As someone with the same issue (Google pixel 7a) I have officially spoken with both SKY Mobile Ireland (as an official complaint) and Google. In the grand scheme of things, they both agree that they have to work together, but I suppose it has to come from SKY Mobile Ireland to Google. The SKY Mobile Ireland complaint case handler mentioned that they are now becoming 'aware' of this issue with Google devices and are collating all user complaints to build a case for SKY's network team to speak with Google's network team. Why Google alone would have such a restriction and other Android devices would allow default access to 5G is something I am struggling to understand. It seems false marketing/advertising from both SKY and Google about 5G and 5G readiness and/or carrierspecific restrictions. Whether something will get done or when, only time can tell. I tried with a GOMO SIM and it worked spontaneously. I am also reading from threads that it is still the same issue with 48 mobile.

That's good someobody in sky admitting sky and google need to talk to each other .
The Uk is a big market it seems crazy that sky haven't sorted it out there yet . Lots of people have left and moved to Asda because of it .when reading forums about the issue .. it's going on years
My advice would be leave sky as soon as you can get out of your contract .

Support can't do much . Google have to white list sky as an operator sky needs to contact google .No timeline of if and when this might happen. .may never happen . I hope it does pixels are popular phones . Shame it's a 12 month contract . If it was only 30 days I would leave

Thanks Eoin! I am going to wait until someone calls back today then I plan to cancel as they are not fulfilling their contractual obligations. I should have stayedwith Vodafone.

Pixels are a great phone . I really do hope sky and google sort it out . No 5g doesn't really bother me as 5g can be heavy on the battery but WiFi calling and volte are handy to have as call quality is improved . Recently some people phoned me and said they could hear their own voice . That didn't happen on the same phone on Vodafone or gomo.
sky don't have a timeline of when google pixel phones will be fully supported . Looks like more and more people are complaining so it may get resolved in the future . Just no date yet. I wouldn't have signed up to 12 months if I had known . Choice is either to wait for pixels to be supported or try and leave sky
