Avoid Sky Mobile Ireland at all costs

Less of a discussion post & more of a warning to anyone in Ireland who is thinking of switching from their current mobile provider to Sky Mobile. If you value your time, money, and sanity, do not sign up for any offer no matter how good it may appear. I would like to start this by saying I very rarely complain, and try not to ever lose my patience with people who work in customer service as it is rarely ever the fault of the person on the other line, but this is another level of ridiculous.

Sky are currently advertising Bill Pay deals which undercut all of the major competitiors on the market however their customer service (or lack thereof) & misleading advertisements and information is not worth the hassle.

On November 10th I signed up after seeing the "€0 upfront" offer for the iPhone 17 Pro Max which, right off the bat is a lie, as once I entered my details I was prompted to pay €396 upfront. I understand & accept that credit checks must be ran etc, this is not my first experience paying for a bill phone I've been on bill pay with Three for years. I was happy to pay this as it's still significantly less than any other network, and my monthly bill would be €42 including €15 for calls, data etc. A great offer. Felt almost too good to be true. The phone was on back order for 2-3 weeks when I placed the order but no issue with that, I was prepared to wait.

On Monday just gone, 2 weeks after I ordered, I noticed that the phone had disappeared from the "My Orders" page on my account. I reached out to Sky which was where I met the first hurdle, as it is near impossible to speak to a human being or find a phone number, and by the time you do get a response from a human via WhatsApp or Facebook, they time you out if you don't reply quick enough. I was eventually told on Wednesday that my phone was still in "back order" status & would be prioritised and I could expect info via email soon. I asked if there was an estimation of when I could expect it & the agent told me to "not worry" and that I would receive an email once it dispatched.

Yesterday evening I received an extremely vague text message stating that my order was cancelled and to "please re-order" online. Out of interest I went on and saw that the monthly price I signed up for is no longer available, and I feel as though they misled people to sign up for a deal that they never had any intention of providing. I got back in contact with Sky before their customer service closed for the evening but to no surprise I got no response. Messaged again first thing this morning hoping to get some explanation or more info and once again received nothing of any substance, bar someone asking me to confirm my information again and then timing me out for not replying quick enough, even though they leave you waiting 12+ hours for responses. It's a joke. The lack of support they provide to people who have given them significant amounts of money is abysmal, and shameful for a company which is so well established & known. The only other communication I've received is an email stating my order has been cancelled, which is a bog standard impersonal email with no sort of explanation given. In all honestly I don't care why my order was cancelled, I understand running credit checks etc, it's business at the end of the day, but I paid them €400 almost 3 weeks ago for something that I will not be receiving, and they have not mentioned anything to me re a refund, the only info I can gather about that is from what others have said on here. The fact that they are redirecting people to this forum and saying they have extremely long waits to speak to a customer service rep is a red flag in and of itself, as they are obviously inundated with complaints & people with various issues. This was the first and last time I will ever sign up for a service from Sky, and I will advise anyone I know to look elsewhere.
