Apparently it can take a number of attempts to get it to save. Your only other option to order yourself a replacement sim:

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

I think I may have had the same issue when moving from 02.
I moved 2 numbers to Sky, and O2 just gave the one PAC number.
The transfer of one phone worked but Sky said there should be 2 PAC numbers.
that wasn't the case, the PAC number lets Sky into the O2 account and the Sky assistant did it manually and it worked.
you need to speak to a real person.

Same here. Had the message from sky saying my number has been successfully moved however can't change in the "my number" part.

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

Seems to be a common issue.

number transferred from three

Text to confirm on Tuesday

Since then

no iMessage or facetime

no texts received for verification codes, only from people on my contacts list.

If replacement sim doesn't work will just cancel.

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

It looks like I have this same problem and it's really frustrating. I have an elderly lady that I support as a volunteer and having just persuaded her to get a mobile phone (very basic) I am unable to make contact with her using my iPhone. It is still showing the temporary number I was given by Sky on the new iphone and it will not save my old phone no that was transferred when I moved from Vodafone. As bad as Vodafone became I am seriously questioning joining Sky mobile. We have already had to return my daughter's iPhone (a new contract/phone with Sky also and moved from Vodafone) in under a month as it stopped working which cost me a new screen protector!! Really annoyingly I'm also not well with flu and have lost my voice so I cannot call in to Sky at the moment 😫.

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

Morning.

Just recevied my notification that my number transfer was complete. However upon testing, the temporary number remains in place and I'm unable to change it within iOS' settings.

I've tried:

  • Updating number manually under Settings > Phone > My Number
    • Tried inputting the transferred number, clicking save then restarting
    • Also tried inputting the number and restarted without clicking save as suggested by another user
  • Restarting multiple times
  • Removed the SIM card and left off for multiple minutes

Every time I've restarted the phone I seem to receive the below pop-up twice:

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Sometimes the notifications to say that the transfer has been completely comes through a bit to soon but it has actually gone through so it might be worth leaving it for a few hours and then trying again to update the number in your phone's settings.

If this doesn't work then something else to try would be to order yourself a replacement sim as that should come with this transferred number:

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

Thanks for the prompt response. In heinsight, Sky's page does say "wait until 5pm as it can take some time for all services to be up and running". Oops 😅

I was doing some more digging under various settings, and I can see that it is ongoing/in-progress in some way:

(Note: Edited to remove personal information)

Under Settings > FaceTime and Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve, my transferred number is appearing but is listed as "Waiting for activation".

Hopefully shouldn't be long till I'm fully sorted. Hope this information helps others too! 😁

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

Just another small update, I've since managed to get my phone number appearing under the 'My Number' tab by doing the following:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

This will also forget any saved Wi-Fi networks/passwords, VPN settings etc; but upon restart my transferred number then appeared.

Hope this helps folks!

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

Hey,

I have ported my number from Tesco to Sky today, however I seem to be having similar issues as a few others.  I can make calls, use data etc but only other sky mobile users can call me, anyone on any other network are told my number is not recognised.  I also cannot receive SMS, Facetime or iMessage.  My phone number is correct in settings but I just get the spinning wheel next to my phone number in send and receive on iMessage and Facetime settings.  A quick google seems to show that there could have been a problem with the porting but I cannot find a solution?  I have spoken to Sky this evening who haven't been particulary helpful, asking me to wait up to 2 days for another team to call me, I am tempted to cancel the contract and go back to Tesco if it cannot be resolved quickly as I really can't be without.  Even if they were being sent to voicemail or i could set up call forwarding it would be better than number not recognised!

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

Ported my number over yesterday, but now I can't get messages from anyone apart from my husband (Apple phone). My number is correct in settings but can't add it to my Apple ID  as I can't receive the verification code. Can't turn on iMessage, wheel keeps spinning and I can't log into banking apps as not receiving the otp. It is driving me crazy and will be cancelling my contract if it doesn't get resolved soon.

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

I asked to speak to mobile technical team this morning, they knew what the issue was straight away and raised a ticket for it to be dealt with.  If I am being honest I don't have much faith but what else is there to do!  If it isn't sorted I will cancel the contract however I will be worse off than sky will be!  I have also requested my PAC this morning so that I have it ready should I wish to not ride it out.

Re: Apple iPhone User? Ported a Number to Sky?

I ported my number from O2, the switch was confirmed on Tuesday and I've not been able to receive some OTP texts since (some have come through, all be it very slowly). I've tried everything - I've updated my number in all the settings, reset network settings, received a network profile onto my phone, toggled airplane mode, removed the sim tray, reset the phone but I'm still not receiving some OTP texts.

Anythint I haven't tried?

Thankyou

Hi @Joanna9182  call sky on 150, there is an ongoing issue that they are aware of, tell them which companies you having issues with and hopefully they will unblock them.
