Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Hi - did you try enabling Hyper V on the ARM machione?  Googliong ti would seem to indicate that you can juust enable it like on windows Pro for the home version on ARM (but not the home version on x64)

I am on windows 11 Home Insider Preview and enabling the virtual machines platforma dn hypervisor tick boxes seems to have resolved it for me (I hadn't installed virtual box yet on this machine)

Windows 11 on ARM

Enabled the two check boxes for Hypervisor in windows features and re-booted the device. Nothing has changed I can run SkyGo, but have no controls and after selecting a programme I can watch it but the controls end up in the middle of the picture and still no audio control.

If I go back to the programme menu there is a delay getting there and then I can do nothing, it appears to have hung up.

Looks like the fix doesn't work for Windows 11 on ARM.

You could try signing up for thr insider previews - not sure if that is a thing on the ARM version but should think it exists.

Windows 11 Home (24H2)  on ARM

Enabled both Virtual Machines and Windows Hyper Visor platform and no joy. 

The application starts, checks for updates and then closes.

Fantastic thanks. could not run Sky Go on Win11 build as the screen kept locking up. All sorted now with Hyper-V enabled

I've had another long chat with Sky about my complaint on this issue.  Once again all details were taken of the problem and escalation was promised.   That was a week ago and not heard anything back yet.

However if, like me, you are on Windows Home, you don't have Hyper-V so that is not a solution for us.  However, as mentioned in earlier posts,. there is an alternative, namely Oracle Virtualbox.  Just Google it and download the Windows version. It's free, and if you just install it, Skygo then works correctly.

When I first installed it, Skygo complained that it had detected recording software and shut down.  I think it's because there are two graphics interfaces on the machine - one on the motherboard (not in use) and a standalone card. So long is the out-of-use one is disabled, Skygo seems happy. 

We shouldn't have to do this, but it's bypass that works for now.

Hi. I have just bought a high end gaming laptop. Its a Nitro V16. It has the following config.

AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics 3.80 GHz

16.0 GB (15.3 GB usable)

Windows 11 Home

NVIDIA GEOFORCE RTX graphics

SkyGo is very old and slow but it does work on my older PCs, but not this one. It loads ok. Then you choose a program to watch. You then either do not get the X to go back to the home page OR if you do get it the program hangs and often goes into an endless black screen. I have tried the beta version and it is no better.

Right now I have to tote my new laptop and my old laptop on journies if I want to watch skygo.

Have moved your post to this thread discussing Windows 11 with Sky Go.

Have a read of some of the other solutions like installing Oracle Virtualbox or using the MS Insider method above.

As you are running Home, you will not be able to use HyperV, as Microsoft do not license it for the Home versions.

Any talk on uisng ways to install HyperV for MS Home will be removed form here, as per my mention of its use.

Would it be possible to ask your Sky contacts if Sky have any interest in sorting out this issue with a proper fix (for me Win11 ARM 24H2) or is SkyGo on the way out and possibly will be replaced?

Any info would be gratefully received.

I don't know why they don't just do it through the browser like all the other streaming services

Thankyou for your diligence on behalf of Microsoft licencing.  
I think your diligence would help much more if your time was spent encouraging Sky to fix this issue rather than telling users not to use their workarounds, or to pay $99 or £70+ to upgrade Wondows to cope with Sky's inadequate app.

If you have not done already you can contact the Sky app team via the feedback option within the app or via the email that is shown on the Google/Apple appstore listing for Sky Go.

I do not really use Sky Go on a PC Myself anymore, I used to many years ago.

I currently use it on an iPad and Google Pixel phone, but have recently and often do try it on two  W11 MS Home laptops I have  and both without making local changes, like discussed here, both fail to start or play out Sky Go.

Next week, as you asked so nicely 😀, I will compose something and ask Sky in our closed Superusers forum area if they are working on some fixes for Windows 11, specifically Home edition.

I will layout in some detail whats involved and happening.

I will also mention ARM too.

I think this may be some kind of compatibility issue and I expect some lack of testing for that on their part, but will provide them with some help around this.
