To be honest I hadn't seen this latest comments about disabling the video . I simply haven't got time to keep checking back on this chat.
i will try it and see if it works, even if it does the length of time this has taken to resolve is completely unacceptable!

Finally managed to get it to play. Thanks to the fiorum users who posted solutions. No thanks to Sky.

And from me, thanks for the hints re the video playback error. Hadn't used the app on my chromebook for a week or so and encountered the same error. Disabled both, and restatrted, and OK so huge shout out to whoever worked out the fix and for everyone that shared it.

I have not tried the fix yet as concerned it may affect other streaming channels like amazon prime and Netflix. Does anyone know if disabling these two functions affect anything other than Skygo? At the moment I can watch my recordings and live Sports channels - it's other live channels which produce the error. Worried I might lose more things - I am not very proficient at tech stuff - bit like Sky I suppose!

Yes this fix affects any other of my video/streaming apps so is only a temporary fix if you require to watch things on other apps as it needs changing back.

Yay, disabling the video means the Sky app works ...... but it means BBC iplayer and Netflix don't. Getting fed up having to flick back and forth depending on which app I want to use 😞

It appears I can watch live tv channels on Chromebook now but the Chromebook cannot connect to SkyQ box so cannot access recordings. There is no problem connecting to the SkyQ box on the IPad. What is Sky doing? It has been over three months and still no resolution.

Hello. Thanks to everyone who has left comments.
Since the original comment was posted. Sky have updated the app. And allows watching of regular free to view channels. But any of my paid for channels are still scrambled. I have resorted to an old laptop just to watch the channels I pay for while not at home. Really disappointed with Sky, as my Chromebook is so much better than the laptop which I now have to carry around with me as well...

I cannot even see the recordings icon now.and when it does make a brief appearance I cannot connect to the SkyQ box.. BBC channels totally disappeared and live tv is very hit and miss. Could not even watch the football. The app works on the iPad (which is too small for my eyes) but it is virtually useless on the Chromebook.

I'm experiencing the same thing with an HP Chromebook.
I get as far as the 'attempted' download, which never ends/succeeds.

I don't know what happened but its been working fine over the last month or so on my chromebook I did install the new updates but very happy now

I downloaded the android app, it works for me in a limited way. If I had realised sky go would not work I would not have bought a chrome book!

Getting tiring from Sky now. Chromebook fully up to date running 103.0.5060.64
Sky Go app version dated 21st June as a beta tester.
Live sport on Sky's own Sports channels still unwatchable
Live sports on non Sky Channels absolutely fine for example the British GP on Channel 4 today.
How about a solution Sky? I'm paying for stuff I cannot watch on my Chromebook /!!

I've given up. Mine worked fine with the beta update until my Chromebook updated again...then I lost the recordings icon. I can go through the tv guide and watch a programme live, but that is it. I can't even pause the programme- it holds for less than 10 seconds and then restarts itself.
I've tried all the fixes on here and nothing works for me. Yet my Netflix, Disney Plus and Prime all work fine on my chromebook.
Very annoying not to be able to access my recordings on Sky through the sky go app on my chromebook, but I've kind of resigned myself to the fact it isn't going to change anytime soon.

My Sky go app has finally updated but still doesn't play programmes unless the video hardware accelerator is disabled. This is a real pain as other apps and games then won't play. Sky hasn't got a clue and their customer service goes from bad to worse.
