Sky Glass temporary home move

Hi, my step daughter is moving in with us temporarily and they have a Sky Glass TV they want to bring with them. We have a Sky account already (we use pucks). Can they add there Sky Glass to our account

@Humphrenio  Short answer is no it can't be added to your account

There are a number of reasons why

first The tv would have to be factory reset delinking the tv from your daughters account and a call required to sky to link it to yours

second if your daughter has different subscription entitlements that you don't have she will not be able to watch them via your account

Thank you - most helpful. If I got an additional puck would that work via a Sky Glass TV? Cheers.

@Humphrenio  No because the tv isn't registered on your account

@Humphrenio The key question is what your step daughter does with her account. Her Glass TV can only be used at her registered address and she can't 'move' the registered address to be your address as you can't have two Sky accounts at the same address.

A lot depends on your step daughter's actual streaming subscription, not on the Glass TV itself.

If she is not under any long term contract, or is on a 31 day rolling contract, then she can easily cancel the streaming TV subscription and take the Glass TV to your house. If she is still paying for the TV itself under a long term finance agreement then she must continue to do so.

Once the TV is in your house you could, as you suggest, connect an additional Stream puck to it via HDMI and use it as a large monitor, using SkyOS and your streaming subscription with the Whole Home subscription. This would prevent any need for messing around with activating her TV on your account which would likely cause endless issues for Sky customer services.

Re: Sky Glass temporary home move

What if she disabled the wi-fi on the Glass TV. Surely she can then use it as a monitor for a puck and Sky wouldn't query regards another location?

Disabling the WiFi won't matter - the key issue is the streaming subscription. The TV belongs to her, not Sky, so she can take it wherever she wants. It's only if she's running a streaming subscription on it that the location matters. A Glass TV without a subscription can be used by anyone, anywhere, as a monitor for any device attached to it via HDMI.
