Sky Glass/Oticon

Dear group. I’ve only just found you and hope you can help.
My wife and I have Oticon Real 1 hreating aids with which with are very happy. We also enjoyed having the tv sound broadcast to the hearing aids via the Oticon transmitter that was connected to the tv headphone socket and phono leads to the transmitter.

We have since bought a Sky Glass tv which we were assured, having Bluetooth, would be able to pair with the hearing aids. Once home and installed we found after searching the internet that Sky Glass does not support Oticon aids. The Sky store was no more help.

I have bought converter device which plugs into an HDMI socket on the tv and then connects to the original Oticon transmitter. I have tried using the phono connection as well as fibre optic lead but to no avail.

I know from the comments in my internet search that this is common but I was hoping someone had found a solution or a reliable converter device so that we can again enjoy tv through our hearing aids.

The best solution in reality would be to return Sky Glass and purchase a smart TV instead. This will offer you much greater flexibility with connecting other devices such as your hearing aids. 
You can always use a Sky Stream puck to get the same Sky TV service that you get with Glass.

when my mother comes to visit she struggles to hear my tv. She has an induction loop system at home which works well. If you have an iPhone you can enable live listen in the control centre which will in turn send that straight to your hearing aids   
Just tried it with my mother and it works. Uses the mic on the phone. I'm not sure if there's an option on android phones. Hope this helps and saves you buying potentially expensive boxes and converters.

Actually, if oticon had adopted a standard Bluetooth application that would allow the hearing aid to link to any Bluetooth capable device, then this wouldn't be an issue. 

I've just recently switched to sky glass and it was painful for me as my Sonos playbar was optical only and the eARC adapter I bought just didn't work correctly enough. Bought a Sonos Gen2 beam that is eARC capable.
