I think after just over three years since the First Gen was released it would be realistic to presume a newer model would be released at some point.
As you are aware, there is no trade-in option. It's a TV not a mobile phone. If you want a newer model you can get one and pay off your existing Glass TV/pay for both models on a month by month basis or get a new one and try and sell your old one to pay off the CCA.
