Sky glass tv fall off the wall
Has anyone ever had a sky glass tv (55 inch) fall off the wall? We have had ours for over 2 years and no problems, all fully secure using the sky mount, sitting flush to the wall etc and this morning it has fallen off. There's no damage/breaks to the back of the tv, wall mount - I just don't understand how it is physically possible.
I'm going to contact them and see if it's happened before as it is a huge health and safety risk and am just thankful my kids were no where near it but apart from an earthquake or my house being haunted I'm at a complete loss

Re: Sky glass tv fall off the wall
Are the lugs at the top of the wall plate still there, and was the set definitely fully seated on them?
If so, I really can't imagine how it could be dislodged without deliberate intent: at the very least it would need to be tilted and lifted.

Yep! All there and none snapped ... my partner was in the room at the time and said no one was near it. He could be lying to me but it's cost him a new tv so I'd have thought he'd just own up if he did do anything as he'd be no better off!

Re: Sky glass tv fall off the wall
@Nate1988 The same bracket that is used on the wall is also part of the stand Glass TVs use and would need to be intentionally lifted off, I agree with @TimmyBGood as there is no damage to the bracket then the TV itself can't just pop off.

Claim on contents insurance and buy another one. I'd think it's incredibly unlikely that Sky would offer a no-cost replacement.

Re: Sky glass tv fall off the wall
Everyone has told me it isn't physically possible and I'm still confused to how it happened today!!
I stupidly decided last year I didn't need contents insurance and still have 2 years of the tv to pay off 😭
we have the whole house I want to say it's called with a puck upstairs, so got a normal smart tv and brought the puck downstairs. This is what sky recommended i did without buying a new glass tv. You can buy additional pucks for £39 but our upstairs was barely used.

That's a loan fee rather than a purchase price: pucks haven't been sold since February 2023.
Using a puck requires the Whole Home subscription supplement to be on the account.

Re: Sky glass tv fall off the wall
Fear of this happening is why I won't ever wall mount a TV!

Re: Sky glass tv fall off the wall
Happened to me in my child's bedroom. He was in there but can't reach even the bottom of the TV. He was in bed, heard a bang and the TV is on the floor. Sky said its 'accidental damage' and won't fix or replace unless i pay the remainder of the balance. Useless.
Also, my warranty just ran out last month for my 65" in the living room, now it won't turn on. Nothing they can do about that either, coincidence.

@Nicjmck Sky's stance on both scenarios is entirely normal. They're not responsible unless in the case of your living room tv, you can demonstrate that there was an inherent fault at manufacture.

And further proof that when you're spending hundreds of pounds on a TV, a device used regularly in most households, buy one from a retailer which offers a free 5 or 6 year warranty and use a Stream puck, or take out Sky Protect insurance for a Glass TV.
Also make sure you have accidental damage cover on your home contents insurance to cover all eventualities.

I would absolutely do that.

I'm not sure a 5 or 6 year warranty is going to cover a tv falling off a wall mount .......
