I get this problem EVERY SINGLE DAY. Glass worked fine for a couple of years, then one day it starts with the inability to load programmes. Then I have to reboot the Glass. Then I can load programmes. But I have to do this every time I watch the TV. Usually after a reboot the programme loads and starts, but then a few minutes in I get the black screen of death and have to come out of the programme, find something/anything different to watch and then reload my programme. Phoned Sky support and was told it's a signal strength issue and suggested I move the WiFi booster. There is PLENTY of signal. This is not a broadband issue. It's some software glitch I think but no one at Sky seems to have a fix. Anyone else ?

@Batmeister Have you read any posts in this thread? There are plenty of us having this issue and like you we are awaiting a fix.

Thanks. I could only see 4 contributions when I asked t'internet for help. I can now see the hundreds of contributions. Glad im not alone but utterly hacked off with the whole thing

Read the more recent posts and the answered post within this thread from Sky on the issue and fill out the form as mentioned in the answered post.

Sky are still investigating the issue and we as Superusers are keeping them aware of many others having the issue.

I have had this issue repeatedly since March, they have rebooted the Tv three times, they say it is a software issue, I still can't watch a

single Sky Channel - I have asked for two months paymenta to be refunded. I have been told I just need to wait for their back team to sort the issue grrrrr   I have a Gen 1 btw

I will say we've still had problems a week after the full system reboot with the sky engineer over the phone. Again the tv wouldn't play channels or we'd be watching a tv programme then loose picture but had sound. Done various reboots as per sky engineers previous instructions and it's sorted it out fine again for a couple of days. 
someday we turn the tv on in the morning and it's fine, sometimes we turn it on and nothing. Getting a bit annoyed with having to reboot the whole system. Paying for something that doesn't work correctly is irritating, never had any issues until now.
we've been away this week so will see what it's like when we arrive back home on Friday.

@ChrisFox My guess is that you will still get the problem. It's still not fixed yet but some have found that after turning the TV on for the first time that day if you open Prime Video for a few seconds, then exit to the Sky Home screen, the black screen of doom won't appear.

 

Others have tried this and found it doesn't work for them though, so it's not guaranteed but worth trying until Sky do fix this firmware issue.

Sky glass is useless, going blank on live channels

I've had Sky glass for a week and already regretting it.

The screen keeps going blank.

I'm sick of unplugging tv to reboot system. 

And on the odd occasion it does work,  at the end of the day we turn tv to standby but it won't work properly. 

It comes on to the menu screen but won't load any channels . It displays wait for you channel to load and after a min or two displays Technical fault on all channels.

It's a firmware issue, awaiting a fix from Sky. More information here:

No point speaking to Sky or asking for a replacement TV as neither will solve the issue. We need to wait for the update to fix it.

Glass TV worked as it should this morning for the first time in weeks. No 'wait for your programme to load' error - straight into live programmes with no issue. I've turned it off and back on again and all is fine so far.. Still showing build version 35.  I don't know if they've sent a patch or it's just a fluke - will find out tomorrow morning, I guess.
