Sky Glass
Hi
Has anyone elses Sky Glass stopped working? I have tried to all of the ways that Sky have told me to do and they won't offer any further help. Does anybody know if they can be fixed? It's only just over 3 years old.
Thanks
Ian

Re: Sky Glass
Hi Yes. It does not start up. The side buttons light up and the occasionally it make a sound. When you do the reset, a lttle flash of light along the bottom of the screen, but it just stays black.

Re: Sky Glass
What is the exact problem with it? It's hard to give advice with your description of stopped working I'm afraid.
If Sky have not been able to help you then it seems there's going to be little we can do as fellow customers though.
If Sky can't resolve the issue it might be the end of the line for that TV. It's up to you how to replace it. It is no longer covered by warranty so you will either have to pay for a repair or replacement (either by getting a new second Gen TV or a second hand Gen One but either way you'll still need to pay the finance agreement on the broken set until it's paid off).
There are lots of Gen One sets on the second hand market now and are cheaper than what Sky charge so that might be a good option if you don't want a Gen Two. Most sellers are only asking for an amount to pay off their finance but do expect you to collect. It's either that or buy a new non Glass TV and use Stream with it.

Re: Sky Glass
Hi. The lights on the side work, but the screen is black. Occasionally it makes a noise, but nothing else. Is there not a way to have them fixed? It was £1000 and I have flat screen TV's from the 2012 that still work.

Re: Sky Glass
You would have to pay for a repair yourself but would be worth asking Sky if your problem can be repaired or not before you get an engineer out so you are not wasting money.
Most posts I've seen on here about the Glass TV's failing seem to have ended up with needing a replacement I'm afraid. If Sky couldn't resolve the issue over the phone then it doesn't sound good I'm sorry to say. I agree that such an expensive piece of kit should last longer. I think it's scandalous that the warranty isn't the same length as the finance agreement.

Re: Sky Glass
Yes, I have been through a torrid time trying to get a replacement, but they want antother £650 and I can get an amazing TV for that. Also, I have no way of knowing it wont happen again. Thanks for your help anyhow.

Re: Sky Glass
@Cornwaldens eBay/Facebook Marketplace/Gumtree is a good place to look if you do want to stick with Glass. I sold my old Gen One to a couple who had been quoted £400 by Sky to replace their broken Glass. They got my old one for just over £100 because I only wanted enough to pay the finance off. It's another option for you to explore.

Re: Sky Glass
Can see anything in the policy that does that. Did you ask for it. Surely once it is out of warranty, how can they offer such a deal?

Re: Sky Glass
Yeah, looked on there, but they are still pretty expensive. Sky offer a replacement at £650, so I I think I'll just buy a better TV and then get stream. Actually don't want to give Sky anything, but we are over a barrel. No other decent streaming TV service that I can add all of my apps to.

Re: Sky Glass
@Cornwaldens That might be a better option for you. You do still need to pay the finance on your broken Glass until it's paid off though - if applicable.

Re: Sky Glass
It's paid off, so that's OK. I didnt think much of the TV to be honest. Not sure what the Second Gen are like, but my brother in-law bought a TV around the same time as me, as his was amazing and cost less than the Glass. Thanks for you help!

Re: Sky Glass
@Cornwaldens The Gen Two does improve the picture and sound over the Gen One. If I was a gamer or more of a picture pedant I would look at other manufacturers for sure. In the end it depends what you want the TV for.
For me it was useful to meet my problem when I couldn't have Q installed in my old rental property and I do like not needing a separate soundbar. The picture and sound are good enough for my needs.
