Hi I have a new SkyGlass to replace my old Samsung, that I used a Sony Amp for with speakers in the walls and ceilings. And althouh the sound is good from SkyGlass my existing surround is better. So I have connected the ARC out from the AMP to HDMI2 on the TV and it recognizes it. With both off if I turn on with the Sky remote they both come on with the TV selected and the sound coming from the AMP, Sky remote works the volume too (and below the sound graphic it says ARC). But after about 3.5 minutes playing a movie it swaps back to SkyGlass sound (if you use the remotes volume it no longer says ARC). Keep watching and about 6.5 minutes it swaps back, it's the consistently toggle between with 3.5 mins on amp output and 6.5 mins on skyglass).
I've just installed a brand new certified UHD 10k HDMI cable and no change.
I've looked at all the settings in Sky and the Sony and nothing makes a difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks

@KenB2 I suspect that you'll be on reasonably safe ground with Pioneer VSX-534. It's a 2019 era AVR (same as my Denon X3500H), meets all the right specs and will have a set of up to date HDMI ports & protocols. The firmware is updatable so if there are any HDMI handshaking issues they'll likely to have been fixed. There is also the idea that Amazon have a pretty good & accomodating returns policy should the AVR not play nice with your Glass TV & ARC.

Re: Sky Glass with Sony STR-DH520 AV Receiver swaps audio out every 3 or 6 minutes
@KenB2 Its a long shot, but on page 22 of the manual for your Sony STR-DH520 at https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4263/42633611M.pdf there is a recommended setting if using HDMI ARC for receiving audio from your TV:
Set HDMI.CTRL to CTRIL.ON in the HDMI menu.
The receiver doesn't look to be firmware updatable/upgradable, and with the receiver dating from 2011, there aren't;t many options for troubleshooting ARC issues/compatibility other than those already built into the receiver.

Re: Sky Glass with Sony STR-DH520 AV Receiver swaps audio out every 3 or 6 minutes
Thanks for ready the manual, I had found that and it was already set. Unsetting it stopped it working completely, so put ot back. And it does work for 3 minutes. I guess it's time to decide if to stick with the SkyGlass speakers or get another amp. I found Pioneer VSX-534 Home Audio Smart AV Receiver 5.2-Ch HDR10, Dolby Vision, Atmos and Virtual Enabled with 4K and Bluetooth on Amazon at a reasonable price, but I can imagine buying it and it still not working. Unless anyone knows of a SkyGlass v AV amp compatibility chart?
Thanks again
Ken
