Sky Glass delivery

I had my new sky glass 65 inch tv delivered yesterday. Apparently their delivery service has changed recently (?). 4 years ago when I bought my original sky glass, delivery unpacked and placed on my tv bench. Now they only bring the package into the house. As I'm nearly 70 and on my own, it would be impossible for me to lift. It became difficult to refuse delivery so I rang Sky to check that this was correct. Apparently they have changed their delivery service and if I paid £99, I would have got the service, I originally had for free. I was so upset that I told them to come and pick up the tv. Did I overreact? There is nothing on the VIP site to indicate that the delivery service is now so limited. I would be interested in the community's thoughts.

@Spylltw the delivery process did change a while back and the delivery options are listed here https://www.sky.com/help/articles/delivery-sky-glass-tv. In addition to the information listed on that page, when you got the delivery confirmation/tracking email from the delivery partner that Sky use, instructions are included on that email with what will happen as part of the standard delivery and how to upgrade the delivery ( including choosing preferred delivery slots, and the premium unboxing service.

Re: Sky Glass delivery

@Spylltw

It's unfortunate that this happened to you but I personally don't think you're over-reacting.

Most TV delivery services from any retailer will charge extra for any sort of unboxing and setup. Sky initially chose to include setup in the delivery of the gen1 Glass TVs with Panther, the original delivery company. Now though, they charge extra for it.

They do now communicate that setup is not included and only a doorstep delivery is what occurs. I do feel that given the increased weight of Sky Glass, being heavier than most other smart TVs of a similar screen size, they should perhaps state clearly on the order that assistance will be required in order to place the TV on the stand, particularly the 65" model.

Not sure I can help on the install query itself, but just to confirm that Panther rebranded as AIT in July 2024, so it is the same delivery company, but Sky have changed the delivery service to drop off only.

The only differences that I am aware of between 'standard' and 'premium' is speed of delivery, days available for delivery and timeslots for delivery. Premium is £45, standard is free.

Re: Sky Glass delivery

I ordered via my sky vip and did not mention that a fee would be required to put on a bench plus when I spoke to sky the accepted that vital information was missing. The delivery instructions from AITHD mentions wall mounting and recycling only so I couldn't have been aware that the original service had been changed. Also, my daughter in law had hers delivered 8 weeks ago and hers was unpacked and sited.

Sounds like positive progress then?
