Sky Glass Not Bright Enough

Just received a new Sky Glass 55 inch  ..

Everthing works fine apart from the brightness of the picture.. We have tried all Modes including 'Vivid' and 'custom' with full brightness and other picture settings..

My last LED LG TV was far better picture.. Is there anything we can do? We expected at least as good a picture.

Unfortunately that may have been an unrealistic expectation: the panel and backlight used in Glass is not particularly great as pretty much all the reviews back in October 2021 identified.  Personally I find our now rather elderly LG IPS LED is 'better' for both brightness and overall picture quality.

It might be worth checking the Glass 'autodimming' is off, as that can be over-applied: note this is different to 'local dimming'.

Re: Sky Glass Not Bright Enough

Didn't Sky release a fix for their very poor auto dimming implementation?

Yes, as described here, but local dimming and autodimming are (confusingly) different things.

I forgot, on Glass it's 'auto backlight adjustment' rather than 'autodimming'

Does that include local dimming?

Toggling local dimming on or off is a separate setting, under Custom picture settings.

Generally the advice is to have local dimming on (now its algorithm is 'fixed') but auto backlight adjustment off because its sensor doesn't seem to be particularly sensible.
