This weeks strictly has audio description. Why??  It's unbelievably annoying. We have tried everything to get rid of it but can't. I cannot watch it with the totally annoying commentary. Please help.

How were you watching it? Live on BBC One, or was it via the playlist which would have opened it via iplayer?

your method of watching it will determine how you need to turn off audio description whether it's via the sky setting or BBC Iplayer.

if it was live then you need to press the 3 dots button whilst watching a live channel, scrolling across to audio description then press OK and it will switch it back to off.

Re: Getting rid of audio description!

I only had persistent audio description and subtitle problems on ITVX and then on only two programmes, Lewis and Vera.  After pressing every button on my Sky Remote and my TV Remote I pressed help on my TV remote and phoned the helpline number.  This was only for my TV set and the lady who answered quickly determined it was not my set but Sky itself.  I phoned Sky to report a fault.  An exttremely helpful guy worked for sometime on various strategies, all to no avail but in his searching he dicovered there were several videos on YouTube specifically for removing audio description on ITVX.  The second of these that I tried, by Fixed Formulas said to press the small button at the base of the programmed screen.  i went back into the programme with the problem but ther was no button at the bottom.  On the off chance I pressed the centre button on my Sky Remote again and there it was at the bottom.  The reasons I missed it  were that it was very small and secondly it stayed on the screen for 3 seconds which was why I missed it.  I pressed the centre button again and immediately pressed the down button and the left half highlighted.  I pressed the centre button again and away went the AD.  However, the subtitles remained.  I guess that the left hand half of the button controlled the AD and the right hand half controlled the subtitles.  I pressed the centre button again and imediately the down button and then the right button.  The right hand half highlghted.  I pressed the centre button finally and away went the subtitles.  This amply demonsdtrates the shambles that is ITVX, the most irritating and least user-friendly app on my set.  It only took ninety minutes, two phone calls with two very helpful operatives and a bloody mindedness typical of someone of my 81 years to solve the problem.  If this is a help, I will be very pleased.
