cannot access email after updating password, sends the verifacation number to old mobile number that i no longer have

So far as I'm aware, your mobile isn't involved when you reset or update your password.

yes it says "weve sent a 6 digit code to" then shows the last three digits of a mobile number that i no longer have

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf you kept a separate note of your Recovery Code, as Sky recommended when you set up 2 step verification you can use it now to turn it off.

Are you sure the password has been changed? Can you log into your Sky account here:
https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details with it?
If you do log in as above, what happens if you select Yahoo mail from the drop down menu under your name in the top right hand corner.
Were you using 2FA before you changed the password, and were the codes going to the correct phone number?
