@Dotty22

We've had confirmation through a closed forum that the emails are genuine.

Re: Verify email account scam?

Interestingly I just received the exact same email again despite following the link and signing in this morning.

I understand email sending queues so that's fine but Sky really need to look into making it more obvious that this is genuine by using 'real looking' email addresses and have some sort of confirmation screen on completion.

Re: Verify email account scam?

Just had the same scam, plus one offering a free movie from the same email address

Re: Request for Email confirmation is it genuine?

It may well do but a genuine e mail from Sky would surely have no ambiguity.

If it even whiffs of a scam, it likely is a scam.

Logged into my account, obviously not using the links in the mail and there are no alerts or notifications re verification.

In my books that makes it highly suspicious.

Don't engage, if Sky have sent this and it's mass ignored they'll do something to remove any doubt.

Sky (allegedly) email titled Action needed on your account

Hi

I got an email from sky[@]email[.]contact[.]sky today saying:

Verify your email address

Hi (my correct name)

You’ve previously set up a Sky iD with us. We’ve introduced a new verification step to help keep your account secure, and we now need you to confirm your details.

Verifying your email protects your account and makes it easy to recover if you ever forget your password. It only takes a moment.

Your Sky team

Is this legit or yet another scam? The email[.]contact[.]sky was plausible enough that it looks legit, but I logged into my sky.com account (instead of the provided t[.]newsletter[.]contact[.]sky) and it hasn't asked me to verify anything.

Any thoughts most welcome.

Re: Request for Email confirmation is it genuine?

Thank you - I looked at the email and saw that there were pre iois emails legit sent to me from this one. It also took me straight into sky with all the info I think with the amount of people reporting the same thing sky would have put out a statement by now if there was something wrong - why made me suspicious was that earlier this week there was report of a s an email to verify Netflix accounts so it made me think twice.

Re: Is this a scam email?

Sky SHOULD NOT be sending out emails that ask you to click on links, it is bad practice and just encourages scammers to copy it.

Whether it is a scam or not I will not be clicking on any of those links!

Verification email

Sky keep sending me emails asking me to verify my email address, but when I click the link it  takes me to the MySky login page, then to the home page. Any advice on what I am supposed to do here?

@NICK+NAX

As stated above, this one ios actually from Sky although really poorly worded and thoughout.

@DorothyG

For now, just do nothing as we (Superusers on here) and trying to get more information on what this email is actually about.

Well, this discussion isn't helping. Yes it is a scam, oh no it isn't, oh yes it is.......ad infinitum.

My first experience of logging into this and definitely my last.

@Mickl18

I can see where you are coming from but us superusers have asked a community manager from Sky on here to look into this and they have confirmed this email is actually from Sky and all it is actually saying is to make sure whatever email address you have on your Sky account is up to date:

Re: Verify email account scam?

Mickl18: The Superusers on here say that it's legit.

But click the links at your own risk.

Re: Verify email account scam?

Yes, sorry guys, that came across as so rude, my apologies.

Thanks to the 'superusers' for their support.

Very bad from Sky themselves though.
