As a bit of a news freak I watch several 24/7 news channels.  It's hard to determine which news channels are available on Sky Stream Essentials.  The numbers vary between lists eg channel 512 is France24 on one list and GBNews on another  (I want to watch both!).

 

Is there a definitive list please?  Does it specifically say which channels are HD or can I determine that by the channel number eg 512 should be HD?

This third party wiki listing is updated regularly and does show each channel combination for differing Sky Packs on Sky Stream/Glass

So this shows 509 GBNews HD and 512 France 24 HD.  Both are classed as Sky Ultimate TV which I believe is (confusingly) now called Essentials on Sky Stream.

 

A shame there's no NHK World which has some terrific documentaries but I'm sure there's enough for me with the others!

Ultimate TV and Essentials TV are 2 different packages available. Essentials has a reduced channel package that Ultimate does.

I think I'm going to take the plunge with Essentials on a rolling monthly contract and see how it goes.  I shouldn't have any buffering issues as I have a 120Mb broadband.  I just hope I can avoid the dreaded lip synch issue which seems to be the bane of many people's TV watching these days regardless of platform.
