Hi, I logged onto my Sky Yahoo Mail account on my iPhone on Tuesday (I do this daily), only to find that all of the emails in my inbox have mysteriously disappeared. I am still receiving new emails, but everything prior to Tuesday has vanished!
I tend to be quite organised and file emails I want to keep once they have been read or actioned, in appropriate folders such as bills / school etc. All the emails in these folders are still present, it appears only to be the inbox that is affected.
I have logged in on a desjtop computer via my Sky account and Yahoo mail app in case it was just an issue with my phone, however it is the same on all platforms.
There are some emails that were important, and I'm not sure if they are now lost permanently.
Has anyone had a similar issue, or can anyone suggest a solution on how to recover them?
Thanks very much.
Phil

Yes. The exact thing happened to me at the beginning of November 2023.
A whole year of emails disappeared. They offered £100 in compensation.
I took it further to CISAS and they offered the same thing !!
I'm now considering small claims.
if it happened to you that is definitely their fault

@Carolinesky I suspect that's because the terms and conditions you agreed to for Sky Yahoo Mail exclude any material liability for loss of data hence the nominal compensation offered.

I was complaining about their customer service error in sky not passing me straight through to their priority service to retrieve my emails.

Did you try the link posted to see if they could be retrieved because if you didn't then as you have discovered they are gone for good as Yahoo run the email service so Sky have no part in returning any lost emails.

Well Sky were able to retrieve some of them!

I'm seriously surprised you were offered any compensation, as Sky email is a free service.
And £100 doesn't seem nominal, it seems very generous, for a failing in a free service.
Just what kind of compensation would you expect?

I check at least daily my yahoo email/sky address...when I went on this morning I had lost 7 years of sent emails! I filled out the Yahoo form shown in the above post and just got a generic reply saying to give it eight hours to see if they (?) got them back. On searching the web some Apple customers got their lost emails back by going into mail on their device and deleting the account, then going back into mail and re inputting the same account. It worked to a degree in that sent mail showed back up...the only problem is that it's just the mail header and the body of the message has not been downloaded from the server.
I then tried signing in via Safari to the yahoo mail uk site and the complete sent messages are showing as normal.
There has been absolutely no changes or updates to the ipad I generally use so in terms of who is at fault, it certainly wasn't me!

If they are restored then it would be advisable not to store all your emails in your inbox if this is where they were located, but instead set up separate folders to keep them in.
