2 step verification

How do I opt out of the 2 step verification? I sign in to Sky on my LAPTOP. I do NOT have the APP on my MOBILE. Entering the RECOVERY code on my LAPTOP says NOT recognised.

Everyone gave the correct answer, you just weren't understanding it.

Still, glad you got there.

Log in here on your LAPTOP and use the RECOVERY code in place of your password. DON'T use any app. Unless you're entering it incorrectly it will work.

Re: 2 step verification

Thanks for the reply.

That does not work unless entered on a MOBILE. Having  read the same advise umpteen times, that's why I emphasized on a LAPTOP.

Sorry to be a little blunt.

When you enabled 2 step verification you would have been sent an email with the recovery code on it so are you using that one ?

You don't enter it instead of the password, say you don't have the 2FA code, then you can use the recovery code and turn off 2FA.

Re: 2 step verification

Hello everyboby.

PLease read the original question.

I have a RECOVERY CODE sent to me when I registered and entered it instead of my PASSWORD..

[content removed]had the same question but had the APP on his MOBILE and I suspect used that.

We have read your post and fully understand.

So what happens if you do what I suggested here:

Re: 2 step verification | Sky Community

Mobiles have nothing to do with it.

Re: 2 step verification

Hi. I'm confused.

You say don't enter instead of the password.

You seem to mention a 2FA code and a recovery code.

I have the original email with an 8 digit alphanumeric code.

It says to keep safe if access to my mobile is lost.

Entering instead of my normal  password comes upp with

a message "Your password is incorrect"

@hootgibson

To turn off 2FA sign in with the recovery code so at the login select "can't sign in with verification code" link. You'll then be asked for the recovery code.

At log in, click,'can't sign in with (verification) code' link. You'll then be asked for the recovery code.

Re: 2 step verification

That has done it.

I'm now out of the 2FA

Thanks to the two who gave the correct result.

Re: 2-step verification

I also have this problem tonight. When trying to get into my Sky emails via my PC the Verification code will not send to my Mobile . As I was concerned incase someone was hacking me I have changed my Password but still no good.

The worse of it was that I could receive my email via my phone app as it was always logged in via my own code but guess what since I've changed my Password it is now asking for verification aswell and also not sending a code.

Now I can't receive any emails at all and I urgently need to get onto check for some very important emails I'm waiting for.

I hope this gets sorted quickly and there's no one to speak to to tell them the problem.

(Removed) Cumon Sky get it sorted NOW !!!!!!!!!!!

@COLR1 now resolved, as you'll no doubt have discovered.

You might want to consider turning off 2 step verification, or at the very least keep a separate note of the Recovery Code as Sky recommend, so that you can turn it off if there's a future problem receiving the Verification Code.
