11 Years of Sent Emails Gone Missing
Hi All,
11 years of sent emails have gone missing from my mailbox. If i click on sent items i can see emails i sent since August 2023. The next date after this is emails i sent in 2012. I have tried the yahoo restore mailbox link, it said please check the restore after 8 hours. I have waited 24 hours but nothing has changed. I was even going to sign up for the helpline for Yahoo but my account is not eligible, this could be beacuse its a Sky\Yahoo email account. This is a massive issue for me as i need access to some of the emails i sent earlier this year. I cannot say when exactly this happened, i only noticed this yesterday as you do not usually check your sent items everytime you login. Has anyone had their Sky\Yahoo email mailbox restored. Any suggestions, thanks all
I login to my account usually via a browser and occasionally via Outlook on my laptop. There is no way i would have deleted my sent items, i do not think i have been hacked. This seems like a Yahoo issue

Unfortunately if Yahoo's restore process hasn't recovered them, they're gone for good, I'm afraid, unless you kept a backup.

Re: 11 Years of Sent Emails Gone Missing
Hi Mark, thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately i do not have a backup, i never thought i needed one. I am not sure gmail or hotmail users backup their emails but i will advise them to do so.
Did anyone get a email to say the restore was complete, how do i know it even started. If its an automated process these things can fail
This is a disaster, I rang Sky and they said they could not help and wiped their hands from it.

Re: 11 Years of Sent Emails Gone Missing
Unfortunately it's a regularly reported issue with Sky Yahoo Mail but, you're right, unless you've encountered it or know of others that have had the same problem, you wouldn't necessarily consider a backup. I've not seen similar problems reported with GMail or Hotmail but I suppose it's always a possibility.
I don't think there's any progress reporting from Yahoo's recovery process.

As i occasionally used Outlook on my laptop i will try a recovery tool over the weekend to see if any offline files contain some of my sent emails

Assuming Outlook is using IMAP. make sure it is disconnected from the internet when starting Outlook. It won't be able to sync with the server and may show the last known state of the emails.
