slow internet

I'll keep this short and brief, wifi is currently sitting between 2 and 7 MBps it's just not usable. i have done everything including their own speed test been through all the troubleshooting and changed the wifi channel, but everything is exactly as it was last week and the week before that nothing has changed. I need it fixed I can't even work with this speed because my connection drops.

Re: slow internet

@Tinker51 Apart from weird figures, have you been switching off the wireless on the hub and trying to use something else, your noise is elevated and looking like you are mostly using the 2.4Ghz band. Are you on the SR203 Sky Broadband Hub, or the sky Q, see the link to check!

Re: slow internet

SR203 just what sky sent out about a year ago and it's the first time any issues like this have ever happened, might be because I have just been turning it off through the day when it annoyed me to see if it changed anything but I have just been trying things through the day as I think of them so it might or might not be something I did. couldn't tell you about the 2.4 ang 5 though I did turn it off and back on in the router settings today not long ago

Re: slow internet

@Tinker51 Your wan and time is up 4hrs + but the wireless is only up 1Hr +, that's why weird, and 9.2 on noise, but can tell you have been powering it on and off, Question do you have a device and a Ethernet cable you can plug into the hub and run a speed test that way.

Try this www.fast.com link, and post your screen capture up, allow it to complete, and DO hit the update to get all the figures, will take about 90 seconds to run it, also do it about 6' away from the hub!

Re: slow internet

@Tinker51 Once you have done, can you say what you have, and if a Full Factory reset to the hub is going to mess with anything that you have done before for changes, as it will return everything to the OOB state, so trying not to push you down that line if not needed!

Devices can mess up like your phone etc, so no idea what and how you are testing, as example my Samsung A54 would fall back and only do 12Mb/s down full 75Mb/s up, but it was a wireless wi-fi power issue in the end and i chased it for 6-8 weeks straight, wireless turned off  on the phone and back on 10 seconds later and full 500/75 no matter what could stay up days then bang down, when it was low it would just never recover until i switched the wireless off/on!

Re: slow internet

@Tinker51 3mb/s down but the full 17Mb/s up from your test! So Ethernet if you can or full factory reset to clear the hub out! What's your poison!

Re: slow internet

that's what I don't get, everything is fine besides the download and it's what's most annoying, I really would rather not reset everything because it's not just me in the house that needs it but it's ONLY me that needs it faster for work, and I use my phone most of the time so plugging it in isn't an issue I'm just on the pc I play games on right now (not that I can do that either)

Re: slow internet

@Tinker51 Where is the PC relative distance wise from the hub, wireless only goes so far and if you have a poor signal then speed will drop way slower, also the down/up can be dramatic if the PC has issues but look in your task manager and at the network side also to what the cpu is doing. Phone speed test should be a quick test, understand the FF reset glad you got the understanding on that fact!

Re: slow internet

It's exactly on everything doesn't change anything if it's my phone right next to it, my pc, laptop everyone elses phone and pc's are the same i've done speed tests on everything and made sure nothing is downloading and tried turning everything off besides one thing and it's still the same, guess I'm calling sky kinda wanted to avoid that because of the "have you tried this and this" talk but not much choice

Re: slow internet

@Tinker51 Trust me they are going to ask and will insist that you do a factory reset on it, but if i was you and you are not using the hub overnight, power it off when you go to bed, switch it back on in the morning, with luck the hub will path through different sky equipment, and if that device is not playing nice you may just spring back into life, used to be 1hr was enough but taking little bit longer to get a new IP and pathway!

You can also run the diagnostic against your line, link is below, and once run say no and force a further test!

Try running the line test here to see if any faults are found:

Speed seems to be fine just now.Speed seems to be fine just now.
