it cannot be a coincidence, the amount of people complaining of issues is rediculous

Let me start here to detail, youve no idea how many times a day the sky connection just completely drops out with no explaination

or how about sky telling you that you are recieving your internet speeds but using any other speed tester will tell you the correct speed of the connection (which is way below the amount sky try to lie and say that it is)

ive complained about this conection soo many times yet nothing is done, too many connections are being sqeezed into the exchange thats why you're having issues

@iatn boringly the explanation is nothing like so interesting simply its coming into winter and we have had some really bad weather which always cause issues with copper phone lines. Full fibre is far more relisble as the simple fact that high frequency electrical signals running down decades old copper wires can be disruoted by water and high winds is inescapable. Expanding capacity at the exhange is  not an issue.

The fact that Sky's service checker often gives a stupidly optimistic answer is down to the way Sky identifies a line is down which lags by an hour or often longer. So it is as good as a chocolate teapot to telling you why your line has just lost connection however it can tell you if Sky are aware of an issue affecting the lines in your area.

Intermittent connections are typically due to bad lines conditions but unffortunately as the whole copper network is due to be de-commissioned at some point Openreach are increasingly unwilling to spend money patching it up so getting them to replace the joint which is causing an issue isnt always possible.

@iatn

Sky supplies something like six million UK addresses with broadband: on that kind of scale, coincidence is inevitable.

Sunspot activity which is at a peak this year does cause issue with electrical system at all frequecnies right up to microwave as well and this can account for some of the failures.

Is the Internet actually dropping (Hub Leds changing colour) or just the WiFi dropping the connection?

What speed are go getting if you a test from an ethernet connected device?

The light changes about 10% of the time

And I'm consistently getting 20-24mbps on an ethernet connected device

Its as if my connection is being throttled

If you still have an anologue phone line, put the number in here & post a screenshot of the results, after editing out the number. If digital, use the address option & remove that.

OK, so that shows that the line should be capable of more than you're getting. Is this something deteriorated over time or has it always been poor? Have you tried removing the faceplate of the master socket & connecting to the test socket? You'll need a filter to do that.

Which router do you have?

Sky Q is the router that lies flat rather than upright. If that's what you have then it's due replacement, so try requesting one.

I'd still be inclined to try the test socket.
