how to connect landline phone

hi everone. ok got the 150mbps internet up and running. i have the sky talk package and i now need to connet my phone, as the BT mastersocket is in a very different place i need some info. i have a cat 5 ethernet cable available to plug into the router. this can go straight from the router to the main phone this approx is 12 meters. the info i need is what adaptors i need. the way i see this is a BT connection (router) to a ethernet connection. then on the phone end i need to go from a ethernet plug to a BT female connection. please advise if this is poss or please point me in the right direction

The telephone socket ap the rear of the hub is the new mastersocket analogue telephone adapter

If the phone uses ethernet then that won't work.  If it's actually an RJ11 connector then you'd need an RJ11 to BT plug adapter (or a replacement lead for the phone with RJ11 on one and and a BT jack on the other)

Note that RJ11 for telephony and RJ45 for data are easily confused visually, but RJ11 is physically smaller and plugs/sockets are generally not interchangeable.

What router did you receive,

An existing dsl rj11 to bt phone jack will suffice

@toptinker the normal workround is to use a cordless DECT phone base station plugged into the hub and then placing  cordless handsets where you need them. There are systems for feeding the signal to the redundant coper master phonecsocket and an extension sockets around the property but I have no personal experience of these. In theory you could get or make a BT phone plug to rj45 connecter but they are arent common things and you would need the opposite connecter at the other end..

Your phone must connect to the TEL port on the rear of your hub, not an ethernet port.

What make and model of phone do you have.  The sr203 will accept any phone with the correct cable

Ethernet is not relevant to this process unless you are using one or more pairs within the ethernet cable for analogue telephony wiring to one or more handsets.  The phones themselves are not using IP over ethernet in this scenario.

It's certainly possible to take pairs within an otherwise unused ethernet cable and crimp or punch-down these for telephony purposes instead of using dedicated 'telephone' cable, but it's unclear if that's what you are intending to do.

You cannot use a BT Digital Voice phone with Sky broadband. Its BT only.
