On your my sky app go to product settings->broadband shield custom settings and put a tick against social networking . However this will block facebook as well

@SKYcustomer7 you can try by adding it to the Broadband Shield block list as explained here https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-broadband-shield-using however it depends how the app works as it may use multiple domains.

Or an app might not use DNS resolution at all: it's more efficient to keep a list of IP addresses in the coding rather than doing DNS lookup, which is mostly a mechanism for email and web browsers.

TikTok requires multiple domains and ranges of IP addresses to be blocked for full block effectiveness. If you search on Google with 'block tiktok' a list of those IP ranges and domains will be explained in the articles.

Zen internet on FTTP (900Mbps down, 100Mbps up). @Georferrell Sky broadband and the Sky hubs offer a limited facility called Broadband Shield which is what the previous replies addressed. You are right you can install sortware at a device level but that is not what was asked. Blocking apps like Tiktok from a determined kid is far from straightforward unfortunately.

And if it succeeded, how would they know what they are supposed to be thinking?

Me too!  Discord too!  It's causing so many problems with kids these days. None of the answers below seem viable or a bit too tech!  Guess there is no simple method. Shame Sky can't give a list of Apps you might wish to block.  Make it simple for the end user. Protect our kids.

Re: how to block tiktok app

The best and easiest solution to blocking applications is use a Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) connected to Sky broadband.

Seen as Tiktok has become a security risk and the internet isn't a safe place its evewryones responsibility to protect our security and privacy espectially those with children.

I've banned tiktok from our network with a simple tick against the application in our firewall which is compatible with Sky broadband supporting DHCP Option 61 and DHCPv6 PD and acting as a perimenter protection for this household.

@CraigM33

Search on Google for 'Zenarmor by Sunny Valley Networks' for the solution to home security as one example...
