Wifi on and off

Since I got the new updated router my WiFi keeps going off always around 2:44am not good when your cameras go offline due to no WiFi when your house if getting broken into and police ask for footage but can't give them out this is not the first time and now it's done it again always around the same time once a week now

@Chaz18 no domestic ISP can guarantee 24/7 connectivity as the network does need to run housekeeping tasks which will some nights  reset the connection around 2.45am to optimise your connection . In addition the network operators need to take kit off line for maintanance which is also done overnight.

If you have cameras guarding s significant asset then a domestic broadband line is not suitable for the purpose but for a domestic property the risk is minimal.

Re: Wifi on and off

Hi i understand what your saying what I don't understand is i never had this problem before when I had my old router but they said i needed to get the updated version and I was fine with that been with them for years and never had a problem and since I've got this new router WiFi is slower and if what your saying is correct then why did this not happen with the older one ? It knocks everything off and like I said never done this before surly it would of done this before

@Chaz18 it could simply be a co-incidence but a brief loss of connection overnight can also be due to Sky updating the hub's firmware which is routine where a hub has been recently connected. Devices should simply reconnect automatically after a disconnection and therefore most people never notice these drops unless a device reports them which is why this activity happens overnight.

The WiFi issue is different and needs looking at. Look at the picture on this page https://www.sky.com/help/home/broadband/sky-broadband-equipment/sky-hub/lights-on-my-sky-hub/article... and post what hub you had and what nee model Sky have sent you. Also post whether you have Sky Q TV boxes.
