@Robert260 not at allmuncommon problem. Poor WiFi coverage is probably the most common question we get in the forum. In many homes a single Sky hub cannot provide a usable wifi signal in every room due to the layout and type of construction of the property especially in older homes. Assuming the hub is in the best possible position which is out in the open on a surface then the only answer is additional wifi sources.

Your choice.is to either buy Sky's add-on WiFi Max bundle which can supply up to 3 extenders see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max or buy your own wifi system and use that instead of the Sky hub's WiFi.

Not via WiFi it doesn't, 900Mbps is the speed to the router only!

Sky Q, 2 mini boxes, booster and full fibre gigafast. Good WiFi coverage throughout a 4-bedroom house!

Re: WiFi only 6.8 mbps!

@Robert260 If like me you were/are unfamiliar with WiFi mesh, I'd suggest watching a video like this

It's a 7 year old video but the issues are the same today.

Sky can provide mesh equipment, but alternatively you can invest  in your own kit.

I've not used an ISP router/hub for years and in my 3 storey house. My home office is on the first floor and the hub is in the hallway near the front door. My WiFi speed in my office is  886/809 (down/up) and on the top floor I get 225/200, which is more than enough for those working or streaming at the top of the house.

My system  was not cheap (£600), however, even a cheap mesh system like this one from Currys  will (I'm sure) for £100  improve things over what you currently have.

Best of luck

Re: WiFi only 6.8 mbps!

Thanks for that. It is a possible solution.  However, my Sky package, which was installed on Monday this week, I am told by Sky Technical that the WiFi speed will improve over 48 hours, so I am completing a couple of Ookla tests over the next few days to see the actual speed. At the router, it is fine; the last test was 800mbps.

My package is Full Sky Fibre Gigafast + Sky WiFi Max. The router is the Sky Max Hub.  So I should be getting better than that (it has improved slightly since the initial post: 19 Mbps download and 24 Mbps upload!). If it does not improve by tomorrow, I'll contact Sky technical support (1st October).

As a point of interest, I was with Vodafone and my wifi speed was 50+ Mbps!  The reason I leave is a hefty price increase,

@Robert260

It would be useful to have more info on how you are testing the speed. E.g. Are you sat next to the hub when running the tests? What device exactly are you using? Are you using just the Sky hub or do you have any boosters from either Sky or 3rd party?
