WiFi keeps dropping

We have had Sky for a couple of months and at least 3-4 times a week WiFi drops off everything then comes back. Even when devices are within 6 feet of the router. I did phone up when it was delivered as the router was clearly not brand new (signs of use such as fluff and dirt were visible upon opening it) How do I request a new router to see if this solves the problem. Thanks
