Re: Why does Sky not offer me an upgrade to full fibre?

Still no luck, rang the cancellations team and they said they might be at capacity with city fibre upgrades in my area, and to try ringing back in a month to see if a slot has opened up.

@aac74 Bet steam was coming out your ears at that sugar coated response, left hand/right hand and really now would you wish to do a CF move?

Re: Why does Sky not offer me an upgrade to full fibre?

Finally connected to Sky full fibre broadband.

I phoned Sky Customer Service for the umpteenth time but on this occassion was told that the issue could be that the address they held for me contained an error (street name, number instead of number, street name) . They said that this could not be corrected without affecting my current part fibre broadband and that the best resolution was to treat it as a house move from the current address to the same address but with the error corrected.

Once I had been transferred, the person in the House Move Department told me that they could see that a City Fibre connection was available at this address and offered me a full fibre package, which I gratefully accepted.

So, it appears that, even though Sky are unable to offer FFB to an existing customer at my address, they are able to offer it to a new customer at my address and also to an existing customer who is moving to my address. Bizarre!

I am not sure whether this information is of use to anyone else having this issue but it may be another possible resolution.

Good luck.😉

Re: Why does Sky not offer me an upgrade to full fibre?

@John607 i am also a customer of 23 years with Sky

the only product i can use and pay for is this Ultrafast 1 Broadband  made possible by a little piece of hardware called Gfast that needs regular fixing and patching if my broadband goes down

Openreach have no plans to install full fibre  at my address

so i guess its mobile broadband or wait to see when theres another mid contract price increase and switch providers

Re: Why does Sky not offer me an upgrade to full fibre?

@aac74  according to ISP review theres still over 300,000 still on the old FTTC + GFast system

I wonder how many there are of Sky's exisitng customer base trapped on this system who can't go further than Ultra Fast 1

makes you wonder why we get such a raw deal

@AndrewD2

You might also have noticed the ISP Review article of the decommissioning of G.fast once it's overbuilt by FTTP.  Openreach has absolutely no desire to keep G.fast going past their December 2026 target date.

Exactly when it's replaced by FTTP in any particular location is down to the progress of the national rollout.
