Weak wifi and won’t connect

I have check my broadband speed and apparently it's fine but I cannot work from home or open any emails etc as the speed is so sluggish. Clearly the check for broadband speed is faulty.

Is that a PC with Wi-Fi antenna at the rear of PC?

No it's a laptop linked to a second screen

Re: Weak wifi and won’t connect

May I ask where the Sky router is placed and where is the laptop 😊

My sons PC is upstairs bedroom next to a wardrobe. And the router placed downstairs living room, the Wi-Fi struggles as it has to pass a lot of obstacles to reach his desk.

Re: Weak wifi and won’t connect

It's not in an obstructed pathway to the WiFi. It can work perfectly but for no reason it dips out of signal for long periods of time.
for instance now it's working fine again and I've not changed a thing.
However this unpredictable WiFi connection is really disruptive to my work and it's frustrating that when I check the connection sky insists all is fine!!

Re: Weak wifi and won’t connect

Unforetunately Wi-Fi is like solving the meaning of life 😁

I have my own mesh connected to the Sky router to deal with Wi-Fi as I work from home 4 days a week and Wi-Fi is very important.

Also my sons PC is connected via this  TP link Powerline.

If you are working from a desk...maybe a Powerline would be the best option.
