Telephone use with Broadband
I have Sky Superfast 35 fibre Broadband and the house phone now uses broadband in place of the old landline.
So if I cancelled my Sky contract for Broadband and approached another provider, would this mean I would have to revert back to the old landline to use the house phone or would the new provider continue the house phone use through the broadband ?

Re: Telephone use with Broadband
@skyqkid If the telephone now goes through the internet, as plugged into the back of the router then your copper line will no l;onger be used for voice calls.
If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

Re: Telephone use with Broadband
It's not possible to revert to PSTN telephony: that's because the national PSTN system is going to be discontinued (target deadline now January 31st 2027)
ISPs cannot now order new PSTN service.

Re: Telephone use with Broadband
Sorry,
Adding, would the house phone use via broadband be as 'line rental' chargeable or free, part of the broadband service ?

Re: Telephone use with Broadband
@skyqkid the days of a line rental charge have gone the cost is now in the broadband charge. However if you choose a new isp make sure they can port your phone number while its normally possible if they also use the Openreach network like Sky but if they dont its far less certain.
