Slow Wifi Speeds

Since upgrading to the (rather expensive) gigafast internet service our speeds have been awful - in fact worse than before.

We are paying for 900 and the highest I've had on a Speedtest is 400 - but on average less than 100. Internet constantly crashes - speeds are slow enough that I'm getting buffering on Netflix, never had that before. I changed boradbad providers because Sky is advertising undisturbed connection, which is not a true reflection on what i'm receiving. I work from home and and very reliant on 100% internet connection.
why would your sky app say everything is fine when it clearly isn't?
really not happy with the new service.
I hope you can help in repairing this.

Re: Slow Wifi Speeds

Yes looking at other users complaints I think Sky is selling a pub, meaning they are lying about the reliability.

I will be ringing them once and if I do not get any satisfaction I will be terminating the contract. I was using virgin media as my provider for years and never experienced any issues, they just wouldn't compromise on pricing, hence why I left them thinking Sky has improved their broadband service, which now seems to be a big bluff

Re: Slow Wifi Speeds

I am exactly the same as you. Large house, 2 of us work from home approx 50% of the time. 2 of the children game. Got FTTP and upgraded to Gigafast to try and improve things. I've called Sky several times and just keep getting past from pillar to post!! I am getting extremely frustrated now and still no closer to a resolution. In fact, the last advisor i spoke to almost advised me to move providers as they aren't providing the service. Max speed i've had is 350Mbps lowest 1.7Mbps, average less than 100 mbps. They've tried blaming Openreach, they came out, perfect supply from the fibre optic cable, changed my fibre box (just in case), no different, Sky have blamed the router, changed that, still the same. Technician blamed large house and number of devices connected which is utter trash (they say connect up to 120 devices and i have less than 50) as when i installed the new router, only connected my laptop before anything else and still poor speed c100Mbps.

I just want this sorted but they don't seem interested. Every time i call them i have to do the same routine, unplug, reboot and so on.....never improves anything. I have insisted they send an engineer, why ythe relutance!!!????

My worry is if i leave i will not get any compensation and been paying for Gigafast (not cheap!!) since June and Openreach say it's a configuration from the service provider and i would have never been getting the correct speeds but how do i prove this?? The boys have always complained when gaming even since gigafast but i just thought they were moaning for no reason as it "worked for me"

In need of help!!!!!

Re: Slow Wifi Speeds

I am expecting a call back from them at some point today. I know this is all first world problems but it affects everything in the house. I have no doubt the call today will resolve nothing and i just need to start my compensation nogotiations and line up an alternative service provider.....but that's going to be a faff!!

Wish me luck!!

Re: Slow Wifi Speeds

My WiFi is very slow and lags and also unconnects a lot.

i am not happy with the service so far and would like some form of booster. For £28 a month I don't expect these many issues and WiFi that barely works
