Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@West335 Which router do you have and how are the devices all connected, I know you say hard wired but is this direct Ethernet or using powerline adapters or what?
If you could post your router stats that could shed some light, at least if it's a router or line issue?
Yes you're correct the line would have been also used by Vodafone, but that doesn't mean to say that the fault is linked to Sky, it could have developed since switching. Decades old copper cabling was never deployed with the intention of using it for high bandwidth data transfer.
** just seen your other posts just as i posted. Let us know when you get home with the router stats. It's worth checking all the sockets and checking where you have plugged the router into as well, especially if you're in a flat with communal systems. Being in a flat can make WiFi a headache as you get cross bleed over all your neighbours networks too.

Cant provide any info as I am completely technophobic.?
I have decent quality and speeds in my living room, where the router is. Until about a month ago, all my devices in all my rooms worked fine. I bought a new smart tv for the bedroom , and since then, my samsung tablet won't conect automatically. It sometimes connects for a short while, then drops the conne.ction. It works fine in my livingroom . The walls are stud walls and the router is in an open position.

is this what you meant?
So I have some things connected to my wifi like smart bulbs etc. My 'hard wired' things are wired through the router if this is what you mean. I agree with what you're saying about the wiring though and the line has been installed since I've lived here and that's been nearly 7 years. I know a bit of tech but not loads so please bare with my temologies

Sky tested the line and have found a problem and bt came out and sorted it, but the problem is still the same, we have tried so many things to resolve this, we even hardwired the Q box to the router. sky sent us a new type router and when we installed it, the wifi was even worse, i could see how slow it was when using my ipad, as any site i went to loaded really slowly. i reverted back to the original router. one example of the issue is, i payed for a pay to view movie and couldnt watch it as it was not downloading quick enough, another example is the additional boxes freeze very frequently, right now one of the boxes simply wont work and none of the remotes work. if it is simply a wifi signal strength issue, then why do two of my ring security devices which are less than ten feet from the router constantly complain about the poor wifi, but a third ring device which is on the the complete opposite side of the house and three times the distance away is completely happy? i was considering installing a mesh system? any thoughts on whether this is worth exploring?

One of the most common problems to poor WiFi is too many devices connected to an underpowered router. The router cannot handle the load all that well. In some cases, the router will freeze. So if you do find you are overloading Sky's router, you will have to go buy a router that's got enough processing power to handle all of your devices.
We have two phones, two iPads, two Apple watches, Sky Q, Microsoft Surface Pro, one laptop, One Xbox One S, One Xbox Series X, two TVs, Amazon Firestick 4k, Amazon Echo+ 4th generation, Amazon Echo Dot 3rd Generation, and Phillips Hue Bridge all connected to the router. Not everything is active at the same time, but still, it's a lot of stuff using WiFi and there is just the two of us. Imagine what it's like with a family with one or two kids.
Another problem is that you have too much stuff connected to the WiFi using too much of the bandwidth that there's not enough left depending on what you are doing. Let's say you have a download of 60MB. Imagine two people trying to stream two netflix 4k programs and someone else doing something else.
So yes, you may have to spend a lot of money to get a router that can handle all of the devices you are using.
