Hello,
firstly, do not understand why ISPs make this so difficult, if you're paying, who cares what equipment you use.
I want to connect an to link ac2100 via dsl (Ethernet cable to dsl switch), then sign in with the usual abcdefgh@skydsl etc, is this still possible or have sky once again locked it down?
I really don't understand why this is so difficult, sky just doesn't work for gaming, but be of the most common uses of the internet. Absolutely clueless employees.
anyway, rant aside, advice very much appreciated.
cheers,
Tom
p.s. Used to be on virgin where modem mode was a doddle, clearly some technicians understand a gamers needs.

If you are on full fibre you just need a standalone router as the ont does the job of the modem and option 61 is still used. It depends on your requirements

ultrafast fibre - Ethernet connection from the wall, so need a swap cable to dsl, I haven't tried if this works yet. That is my question to be honest. Will the tp link ac2100 work by just plugging straight in via the Ethernet/dsl cable and then signing in with the sky (mer)?
Requirement is to totally remove the sr203 and put in the ac2100, but my wall connection doesn't have dsl, only Ethernet.

Ethernet connection from the wall
Is this a modified mastersocket or a larger wall mounted openreach ont. ?

ac2100, but my wall connection doesn't have dsl, only Ethernet.
What model of tp link ? It should have dual wan. One for dsl connections and 1 internet/wan ethernet port for the ethernet connection to the ont modem.

router and fibre connection, all I want is to plug it in and work. Any ideas?

I should say, plugging in to the wan/Ethernet port doesn't show anything, using the standard mer skydsl details just fails, not sure if I am missing a step.

Ah, vdsl modem router and ont gpon modem. You'll need to go to advanced tab and change to wireless router mode. When finished the router will reboot hopefully after it does you'll maintain or at least be able to bring it through sky mer vdsl again to authenticate in the basic set up

Morning,
rebooted, under isp selection it only lists other, next page I can add the username and password using PPoE - standard password of 1234567890abcdef didn't work, just password was accepted, but then fails to connect. Do I need to ask sky to allow authetication via PPoE? Will they? Is there a reason isp list no longer shows in router mode? Should I do a firmware update?
any option to turn the WiFi off on the sky router and use bridge mode doesn't work, any time I try to update the settings the page crashes and nothing changes.

Username 12 character tp link mac address@skydsl
Password last 6 characters
In the format
12345678abcd
78abcd
@Skull+Treaty problems bridging ont gpon to tp link hub router appears sky mer vdsl disappears and your only option is pppoe. Any ideas ? Or ir it a case of dhcp v6 pd ?
19 Jun 2021 08:46 AM
Do you mean last 6 characters of the MAC address are the password? If so it says wrong password. Used 78abcd and it accepts it then takes me to this page and doesn't change from connecting.
presume it's blocked from authenticating and sky need to open it up?

The authentication type is DHCP Client identifier Option 61, and you currently have it set to PPPoE which isn't correct and will not work for Sky UK.

But when I change to router mode I don't get the option to authenticate like that. Only when in modem mode but it doesn't work then.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIn wireless router mode go back to the basic tab and change the connection to dynamic IP and tick the VLAN option. Set that to 101 ( @mae-3 i can’t remember if that the correct number). As @cookiemonsteruk mentioned you’ll need to authenticate via IPv6
