Just needing a little help. We've recently had full fibre installed. Due to positioning with the fibre cable the Sky Hub had to change rooms and we had a new Sky Max Hub to replace it. Have noticed a small difference in the reach of Wi-Fi in the house so want to move the Hub to a better place but not far from where it is now. Unfortunately the cable running from the ONT to the Hub isn't long enough. Is there a longer cable available, or one that can be bought? Many thanks.

@cfriisy You can purchase a Cat5E (minimum category needed) ethernet cable at varying lengths from any decent electrical retailer or online.

That's great, thank you. I've just had a quick look - would a Cat6E cable be better then? Have no clue about this type of technology but it's roughly the same price on Amazon as the Cat5E, lol.

Cat6e is overkill for that use. Cat6 would be what you probably want

Is there much difference then between the Cat5E and Cat6? Only asking as making sure I get the best equipment for my Husband and Son who are avid gamers, lol. It's just a shame that sky don't provide longer cables as the placements can be quite limited (as I've now found out).

Re: Sky fibre ONT cable to Sky Max Router not long enough
The main difference between Cat5e & Cat6 is it has increased bandwidth, so with Cat6 you can run speeds up to 10Gbps, whereas Cat5e is up to 1Gbps. If you dont plan on getting broadband faster than 1Gbps, or running a local device like a NAS higher than 1Gbps, then Cat5e is plenty.

Ok, so slightly lost with the technical terms of broadband speeds, lol, our broadband is Sky Full Fibre 150 so which would be better for that? Again, just making sure I do everything right and the best to keep the household happy, lol.
