Grateful for your view here please or anyone from the community please.
Simple question I hope. I have Netgear RBK 53 which I have used with BT FTTP connected directly to the ONT with simple credentials.
Can I do this also please with Sky FTTP and drop the Sky Hib and connect direct please to the fitted Openreach ONT and if so would anyone be good enough to share the credentials please required
Thank you

These are the only Netgear routers that support DHCP Option 61 which is a requirement for authenticating with Sky https://kb.netgear.com/000062426/Which-NETGEAR-routers-support-DHCP-option-60-and-61
You could try authenticating with DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation (PD) but only 80% of Sky exchanges support that method.

Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP and Netgear Orbi
Thanks so I am in that list for RBK50. Could you confirm briefly any relevant steps or credentials to input and most importantly if this should be seamless in your opinion
grateful

Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP and Netgear Orbi
Some online guides explain how to enter the DHCP Option 61 credentials if you search for 'Orbi DHCP Option 61 and Sky' and it is on the Medium publication website. The DHCP Option 61 field can be set with 'anything@skydsl|anything' without the single quotes.

Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP and Netgear Orbi
Thanks for taking the time to reply. This should be stable as far as internet is concerned and no drop outs simply for not using the sky kit ?

Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP and Netgear Orbi
It should be stable when using other router equipment but for best reliability, it is wise to set up DHCP Option 61 and DHCPv6 PD concurrently.

Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP and Netgear Orbi
Just coming back on this thread please.
Thanks to the help of @Cookiemonster and @mae-3 I have run my 'classic' Netgear Orbi RBR53 set up with the RBR50 router connnected directly to the ONT since February of this year. The WiFi experience has never been fantastic and I increasingly get sessions where my iPhone for example just seems to hang loading a page on WiFi. When I switch to 5G only then bang no issues.
I had toyed with the idea of upgrading to the Netgear Orbi 763S with WiFi 6 but I would like to try and understand this 'hanging' issue first if anyone had any thoughts on a potential root cause and resolution please.

Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP and Netgear Orbi
@Bluethree check the DNS settings on the router and the phone as typically web pages hanging can be down to a dodgy DNS. Public DNS providers like Cloudflare or Google are very fast so it is worth adding their srvers on 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to your devices DNS settings for the WiFi connection.
