Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
My Sky Broadband installation has not been started yet and it has already been four weeks since I purchased the product. My contract with the old broadband provider has already ended and I am now using my mobile internet for work which is often times unreliable. An engineer from Openreach already visited my property to mark digging spots for cable installations but that was already three weeks ago. I get weekly updates from Sky, but always the same message basically saying "Product is delayed. We are working hard to get this done."
Sky, please sort this out as soon as possible. I have never thought of waiting for a month for this.

As you've indicated yourself, digging, ducting and cable laying is the remit of Openreach and its subcontractors, not Sky or any other Openreach client ISP. These ISPs are specifically not permitted to intervene in the Openreach rollout of FTTP, primarily to prevent BT from gaining a competitive advantage from the continued ownership of Openreach Ltd by BT Group.
It's perhaps also worth noting that delays in digging are far from unusual, and that August is a particularly problematic month for personnel availability.

Re: Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
With a ten working day minimum lead time, and particularly in August, that's really not a long delay.

Re: Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
Are you new to sky or the property or upgrading for example superfast fttc to ultrafast fttp?
The notes from the link i gave should show any issues

Re: Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
HI i am having the same problem. It has been around 5 weeks now and they still have not laid the casing.
These are the notes from the broadband checker, could anyone please advise - I am close to cancelling and using virgin if they would be any quicker.
FTTP is not available.
As a fibre priority exchange, FTTP has priority over other products if available at the address
As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply
SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange
For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.
If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service
ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.
Thank you for your interest

Re: Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
@AL0314 What is it that you are getting installed, is it a FF Full Fibre connection, not having the table posted does not help with the overall picture. If you are in a FTTP Priority exchange then FF is all you are going to get!

Re: Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
"FTTP is not available"
If you are waiting for a copper circuit then the maximum it could deliver is 80Mbs (reduced by distance from the local fibre cabinet)
If a Virgin coaxial cable connection is possible at the address then it could be much faster than that.

Re: Sky Broadband Installation Delayed
Hello all,
I am not a technical person and do not really understand what's going on here. See below for a full screenshot including the table. I have opted for sky broadband superfast.
What are my options here? am i waiting for cables that are excessive? Virgin do not provide internet to my property after checking.
I just want this sorted as i work from home a lot and mobile hotspot is extremely limited.
Appreciate all your feedback
Thanks
