							SSID question re my car

A perhaps unusual question but hopefully there may be some suggestions as to a solution from you folks......
I have a 2020 Nissan Qashqai Tekna which when I was with Virgin I could link to the internet using my Virgin Routers SSID with no problem. Since changing to SKY the car does not recognise the new SSIDs despite it being only 10 feet way the other side of a window from my SKY a router. The router is set to transmit its SSID (2gb and 5gb). The car picks up other multiple SSIDs from various routers located around and near my house fine.
ill be contacting Nissan for ideas but suspect they will say it's an issue with my Router
any ideas from the forum would be most welcomed!

a) because older devices can be confused by seeing the same SSID on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.
b) if it's a white Max Hub then it's using WPA3 encryption by default and older devices don't support that.

The 2gb & 5gb channels have their distinctly different SSIDs. it's the basic SKY router I have that came with Sky Stream and puck

@PJB001 Which chanel frequency are you trying to link the car and hub with! How good is the mobile connection out next to the car on the wi-fi signal! As you have seperated the bands which one did you rename!

Am wanting to link car to/through the 2.4gb SSID band but since the car doesn't recognise that or the 5gb SSID band that's my problem.
Both SSID bands have been renamed SKYxxxxx-2 and SKYxxxxx-5 respectively
Both bands work fine with all my other devices (eg. TV, Puck, Laptop, Tablet, Security Camera, Doorbell, Mobiles, Power line WiFi boosters) and as a mixture of both.
I downloaded a WiFi signal strength app on my mobile phone which gave a signal strength reading standing next next to and sitting in car of -50dBm on the SKYxxxxx-2 band which is significantly better than the -80+dBm it showed on other local SSIDs that the car can pick up.
My apologies as not a techie person but not sure what you mean by.......
"How good is the mobile connection out next to the car on the wi-fi signal!"

@PJB001 Did you have a - minus sign in your previous ssid that you had, although it is allowed do you know that the car likes it!
Take the -2 of the 2.4ghz band! No need to rename them both unless you have someone near you with a same ssid...

Thanks Jim for the suggestion about the minus (dash) in my current SSID naming. I'm going to speak to Nissan support tomorrow to see what they have to say first as would rather not have to mess around with my devices that I've now got set up and which work well together.
Looking at the SSIDs the car is "seeing" there are 3/4 SSIDs that have either a minus (dash) or underscore in their SSID names and 1 that has both characters so might not be relevant.
TBH I cannot remember 100% what my previous Virgin SSIDs where named as almost a year since switching to SKY
I will come back to update once spoken with Nissan.
Thank you for your interest/support
