Is there a way to edit what I've written? I do make mistakes sometimes.

CSP ? Customer Service Point: the passive Openreach box on the outside of the property to which the new optical drop cable is provisioned from either duct or pole.
ONT ? Optical Network Terminal: the powered Openreach box inside the property which is effectively a 'fibre modem'
Wont my old cable in my house diminish the capability of the fibre (glass?) cable.
FTTP never hits that cable: it becomes obsolete
Can the optical fibre cable go straight to my router/hub.
No: only to the ONT. ONT to Hub is over ethernet cable.

@TimmyBGood I understand now but one last question.
Will my current router/hub still be used ?
If I've read a previous post correctly the fibre optic cable creates it's own hub, or something like that.
I appreciate you putting the pictures up.

FTTP requires either a Sky Broadband Hub (default) or a Max Hub (extra monthly cost)
If you currently have a Q Hub, Sky will ship one of the above as a replacement.

My hub is the far left one, the one that just says 'sky hub'.
My telly box is a sky+ HD
I like that one (even though it's old) because I can recieve the free terrestrial TV channels from my satelite dish.
I've heard that you can't do that with the newer boxes, is that correct?

Sky tv essentials allows to to record and receive fta satellite channels using a sky q satellite box as per @jamesn123 you'll need to get someone to upgrade to Lnb to hybrid or wideband
