Re: Rubbish WiFi from Sky

I signed up as was taken by the guarantee of all house broadband and better tv service than Virgin. What a lie this has been. Full fibre 300 ...more like full fibre 30!. Bought a new tv and can't watch it as useless broadband.  Called them and all was told nothing they can do and I have to pay for a booster? Why? You promised and now you have me signed up your service is as bad as the connection I have to endure. Wish I never moved from Virgin

Exactly the same for me poor speeds especially at night so I'm constantly up and down the stairs re setting the router ,I've had engineers out twice this has been going on for nearly a year so I've bit the bullet and started the change over to fibrus in my opinion things can't get any worse than they are now with a different provider

Re: Rubbish WiFi from Sky

I've posted on this as I've transferred from BT to Sky broadband. It has the same setup as my old BT router and the range is much weaker. In our bedrooms upstairs the range would be so poor I couldn't actually hold work teams calls as they always break up. I called Sky and they sent a repeater free of charge and it's slightly better but the repeater can barely detect the sky router downstairs so it sometimes stops. Definitely poorer and I'm using 500mbps speed. Every video has a lag now.

Re: Rubbish WiFi from Sky

The speed to the hub and the WiFi signal from the hub are 2 separate issues.

Sky and other ISPs can provide equipment for improving the WiFi signal around your home  but I would suggest investing money & time in setting up your own mesh system. While this will not address the issue of speed at the hub it deals with the range of your WiFi.

Also you can use your mesh with other providers.

Been well worth the effort and expense for me as house has 3 storeys and WiFi reaches into garden and a detached garage.
