Router Replacement Possible? bad wifi

Hello

i would like to know if Sky will replace my SR102 Sky Hub to a newer model router or will i have to fork out for one of them Asus ones.

Problem is that every so often (month or so) I will have to reset my router because i can't get on the wifi network. i have multiple users in the house and they get miffed when they can't get on the wifi.

i ve seen on some posts saying that the router i m using is old so will sky give a router with better wifi support ?

Suggestions

I have tried contacting sky but i gave up when i did it just text me a link to look on the sky website.

I was looking at getting a router any way because we have an xbox user in the house , so i prefer not ethernet cable in the hall way as its such a bad trip hazard.

My needs .

i would prefer it if it doesn't randomly stop the wifi and can support home secutrity plus 5 wifi users .

Support for streaming maybe?🤔 at peak could have around 12 devices.

My Specs

Router Sky Hub SR102 , Sky Superbroadband Superfast dl 59.9 Mb .

Thank for your concern 🙂

Firstly i would have thought sky would upgrade you to at least the er115 it the sr203 that that is sent out with the broadband boost subscription.

If your landline is plugged into the mastersocket then the following should work without losing your landline

Tp link archer vr2100 and vr2800

All asus dsl rt ac wifi 5 models

And the asus dsl ax82u wifi 6

----------------------------------------------------
Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 43 inch UHD tv, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21

If I get it right mark as answered
If I get it wrong humour me
If I say something you like give a thumbs up

@MonkeyinThought  Are you still in contract with Sky for your broadband and the router you have is very old and should be replaced.

If someone has helped give them Like.

Re: Router Replacement Possible? bad wifi

@Highlinder  Gave sky a call and they could send me a new router but it would be the same model though.

i could only get a different model router if i upgraded to the braodband booster pack ..  i didn't want the added cost of extra subsciption for wifi extenders in the long run will cost me more. Now to look at possible Asus routers.

Asus is a good choice as it would work both with the older adsl copper to the exchange and fttc connections

Could you post your hub stats to see what connection you are on

@MonkeyinThought  Well there are plenty of posts of others using those types of routers. So if you find one that you like then you should find the how - to -install on Sky without too much issues.

Hi @MonkeyinThought , we have sky superfast broadband package and at the moment are only getting 326KB/s.  Sky are saying there is nothing they can do and I have to wait 2 weeks for an engineer, to be honest we have never had great speeds.  We have the Sr203 model, getting really fed up with the excuses all the time to be honest!

That isn't right, Sky wont send out the SR102 anymore, it should be the ER115 or SR203. I suspect the agent was trying to sell you broadband boost so you'd get the SR203.

Worth remembering that all Hubs prior to the 203/204 become obsolete by the end of next year.  I'd really hope that Sky is no longer sending out Q Hubs to anyone.

I think the email that was sent out in january to some customers to upgrade sr102 to sr203 didn't go out to everyone.
