Ring camera

I have had a ring doorbell for 2 years and it works without any problems, we have now fitted an outside camera, for the first few hours it worked well, but it's now not getting the WiFi signal, I can't move the hub any closer as it's got to be near the telephone line.

would a booster help get a signal to the camera? I'm on the fastest broadband available in my area, so we can't have fibre, we are on Superfast.

any suggestions please?

Does the camera work if you move it back closer? Its just worth making sure that the issue is definitely range

Re: Ring camera

Yes it was working when we put it up, and when I move it closer it works.

when I move it back outside it says very poor WiFi or no WiFi connection?

thank you

Yes, it works when I move it closer, and it was working when I first put it outside, although it did say the WiFi was very weak

Yeah sounds like you need a booster then.

If you have Sky boost or Sky Max you could request one from Sky. Otherwise you could also look at 3rd party extenders

Yes boost is around £5 a month.

If you put 'WiFi extender' into an Amazon search for example you'll get a good load of results that gives you options.

Re: Ring camera

I have spoken to sky and all they can offer is Sky Max ? Looking on here a lot of people seem to have issues with the new white hub? And it's another £6.50 a month.

I only want to get the outside camera working, I'm not at all technical, we live in a bungalow and have had children firing catapults at the window. We have sky Q, a doorbell camera and 2 iPhones all work fine, but not the camera? It says very poor WiFi?

we are both elderly and would love to find a simple way to extend the WiFi to the camera on the front of the building?
I have searched Amazon, but how do I know what is compatible with Sky?

Yeah I wouldn't get Sky Max.

If Sky wont offer you broadband boost then you could technically source a Sky booster from Amazon/eBay although I shouldnt really be saying that because the kit on there is Sky owned & the sellers should not be re-selling it. At the same time if Sky wont physically let you buy a booster from them then I don't see why not.

Re: Ring camera

@Marjorie5 Also, these work very well, easy to setup and you can return it back if you have issue's.

We dont want to propose as hopefully you understand. Take a look search amazon n300 and look at 850RE. Does not like the link post.

A wireless 'N' device like the TP-Link N300 extender will do more worse than good on the rest of the network. I would not recommend it.
