Re: Ring Doorbell
Am I likely to have the same problem if I purchase a new doorbell?

Re: Ring Doorbell
@Kay117 actually with current Ring products you do not need to split wifi bands and they should connect to any Sky hub if tgey are in range.
The issue with video doorbells is by drfinition they are outside your home usually screwed to a double thickness exterior wall which reduces the wifi signal significantly. If your Sky hub is in the hall it should work but if its in a room at the back of the house you are lijely to have issues. It all depends on the layout of your home and how it is built.

Re: Ring Doorbell
The router is now nearer the doorbell than it was before. I am wondering as the bell is 4 years it might be incompatible. Had no issues before.

Re: Ring Doorbell
@Kay117 Your Ring app connected to the doorbell shows you the rssi value for it's connection to the Hub, My ring is going on for the 4 years old age, hard wired to the Bell Chime to keep the battery charged, always been that way, and flips between the powerline which is the strongest signal, and the Asus RP when powerline gets disconnected from the power socket. Quick connect back to the powerline is re-boot the Ring doorbell and off she goes back to the strongest signal again.
If you cannot get the Ring connected, then you are going to have to get it moved closer to the hub and connected that way, or move your hub out with a power extension and a longer cable for the Hub internet connection. Take your phone outside shut the doors and see if you still have a wi-fi connection on your phone.

Re: Ring Doorbell
My doorbell is not hard wired and will not connect even right next to the hub when I go through the connection procedure.
I have no other problems with any devices connecting
I spoke at length with Ring and she tried everything to get connected. She said I would need to split or if that doesn't work the fault could be the doorbell itself. I don't want to purchase a new one if I will have the same problem although they offered me 30% discount.

Re: Ring Doorbell
I have the black sky hub.
I do not feel confident about doing the split as not very technical minded! That's why I am thinking of just purchasing another unit. My chime connected with no problem at all so already have that.

Re: Ring Doorbell
I have now spent another hour on the phone to Sky who say don't recommend doing the split, gone through alternatives with me as no joy.
2 hours with Ring previously so I am no further forward. Even if I purchase another device no one can guarantee it will connect.

Re: Ring Doorbell
@Kay117 You have a choice, just split the bands and do what is needed, you wish to listen to sky then do so!
If you cannot get the Ring to connect to the hub, then you may just have to get another booster to act inbetween the doorbell and the hub to buffer and allow the connection.
