Same here!! Living in London with almost every house connected what could possibly be so time consuming? Why doesn't sky use their own engineers? They're losing business - people simply cannot wait for over a month to be connected when everything depends on broadband especially if you work from home.

Openreach simply does not permit anyone but their own employees (and direct subcontractors) to work on the vast majority of their network.
The recent exception is that ISPs can, as part of a trial project, train personnel to carry out 'second stage' FTTP installation, which is fusion-splicing an optical pigtail at the CSP and bringing it indoors to the ONT: this requires Openreach to have completed 'first stage' deployment from CBT (local pole or duct) to CSP (on the side of the property). There was a recent post where this is exactly what happened, but it requires suitably trained Sky people to be available relatively locally.
