Returning Sky Customer

Hi all, after 4 years with Virgin Media I am now returning back to sky with their Ultrafast 1 (145Mbps).

Previously when i was with sky I had superfast (67mbps).

Do i really need an engineer? I have all the Openreach cables in my house still and did go to BT for a while a year ago and went back to VM. Can't sky just deliver the router and I can just plug it in and not wait longer for an engineer to come over and do the exact same thing.

Thank you!

Ultrafast 1 over G.fast (using the existing copper phone pair back to a fibre 'pod' in the street) requires an installer visit to fit a dedicated faceplate* to the master socket and check the resulting circuit is actually capable of carrying the 100Mbs guaranteed minimum download speed.

@skycustomer29  It's likley this is a full fibre install so it won't be using your exisitn g line.

Can you post the results from here remove any address data so the forum can confirm this

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

@skycustomer29  The old copper line is going away and with you getting ultrafast 1 you will need a box connected to the outside of the property and then another box installed inside the property, this connects to your router to give you internet. The technology is different from the old FTTC which would only go up to 80/20.

This is why you need Openreach to come out to do the outdoor work and maybe the indoor work also.

Re: Returning Sky Customer

Hi, Thanks for your response.

I do not think it is full fibre because according to openreach my home is not eligible for it yet.

When I entered my postcode with sky i only got 3 options , Superfast 36mb, Superfast 65mbps and 145mbps which is what i have opted for. When in went to BT the engineer said I've already got everything he plugged the router in activated it and then he left.
