Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

Help needed!

I have just purchased a Synology router and tried to set this up thinking it would be an easy process.

I have followed the steps mentioned above with option 61 but once I try to continue it fails to connect to the Internet.

Any ideas would be greatly welcomed.

Thanks

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

Option 60 - name@skydsl

Option 61 - password

This is what I did in my asus and its works

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

Thanks for this.

I did try that and still no luck.

Ipv4 and 6 do not seem connected.

I am using auto iP when connecting with the setting you suggested but with no luck 😔

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

@Chrisbarry

DHCP Option 61 field should be 'anything@skydsl|anything' without the single quotes in the UK.

ROI is 'anything@skydsl' in the username and 'anything' in the password field for the PPPoE type of connection.

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

Thanks @mae-3

I am UK based so i dont think the PPPoE applies to me?

However, I have tried DHCP Option 61 field and typed 'anything@skydsl|anything' without the single quotes. However, when I then click to advance it will fail to connect to the Internet after about 30 seconds.

Are there other setting I need to enter?

Again, thanks for your help.

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

@Chrisbarry

You must leave the ONT or modem and the Sky router switched off for half an hour before connecting the Asus router once set up with the DHCP Option 61 parameter and connected to ONT or modem.

And then store the Sky router away for testing fault purposes.

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

Will try this when I am home this afternoon @mae-3

Does it matter that I am using a synology router and not ASUS as you have mention a few times?

Thanks

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

@Chrisbarry

The router manufacture doesn't matter in this respect.

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

@Chrisbarry

If you are connecting by an internal router modem or standalone modem have you set up a VLAN of 101 for modem or router WAN port? If it is an ONT that you connect to then this isn't required, eg: the VLAN should be unset.

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

@mae-3

I have an ONT modem I believe as shown in the image.

This is then connected to the synology router.

I am just trying the turn off for 30 minutes again to see if that works for.the second time.

Re: PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

@Chrisbarry

Everything looks good with the DHCP Option 61 field but it may be worth putting something in the hostname field, eg: 'home'.
