Optimising speeds with non sky fibre

This post is for information and discussion. I have recently switched to FTTP with a non Sky provider, only one that did it in my area. Speed to the box all good 900/900 up and down.

I was wanting to optimise the WiFi speeds across the house and thought initially the 3 mini boxes would help with that, long story short best option I have found so far for speed (and stability) is to have a wired connection to the main Q box and to turn off the option to use mini boxes as WiFi boosters. This seems to provide the best speed to the main box, (tested on Netflix's handy 'help' option) the mini boxes get good signal for TV (the main box creates a private mesh Network you can see but only they connect to) and leaves the router to worry about finding space for the WiFi signal for the rest of the house.

I suspect there were just to many overlapping signals getting in each others way and it probably pushed to much stuff onto the 2.4ghz band.

Thought people might be interested.
