Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

I wonder if this is a UK problem with the un professional Open Reach company or just localised.

I am in Swansea

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Openreach engineer booked for 8-13 to set up fibre today. It's now 13:10 and no sign. It's a bit laughable as they sent half a dozen text messages to make sure I would be in this week then, low and behold they don't turn up themselves!!

Anyone having issues with Openreach this week? Openreach just seem to be a bunch of cowboys. The order has been in since beginning of June! What a shambles! @Anonymous

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Openreach booked & paid for to put another phone point in.  Had the text to say they would attend on 9th December between 1pm-6pm.  No one turned up.  Heard nothing from them!

I'm having the same trouble. No show from openreach on 2 occasions and now finding it impossible to rebook a visit or find out what's happening!!

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Absolute pants service!  Gave up with the phone calls, utterly pointless!  Rubbish service to be honest!  Extremely poor show!  I cancelled.  Eventually got a refund off the sky bill.  Not good at all as I hadn't paid for it that way and no communication to say that's how it would be refunded.  SKY big thumbs down and extremely big raspberries!

Hope you got yours sorted out!

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Openreach are rubbish, as are Sky.  Installation now 2 weeks late. No TV or Broadband.  Engineer phoned to check I was in then didn't attend.

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

I've read this thread and it's a little concerning. My Sky engineer is due tomorrow morning to do the internals, but as yet I've not received a "confirmation text". The Open Reach engineer came on Friday to do the externals, but was only with me for about 15 minutes and left telling me they would refer the full job to themselves and do it on Tuesday morning (tomorrow). So as yet I've had nothing done and my previous broadband provider is turning me off tomorrow. If the Open Reach / Sky engineer doesn't turn up tomorrow, I'll have no broadband , no e-mail and no landline phone. I do not have a mobile phone, so how can I report any problems, any missed appointments or simply anything. I won't even be aware of anything that's going on in the background to put things right. I'll be completely cut off and I see respondees on here have written, "we've not herad from you for "so many days", so I'll close this request. Maybe you haven't heard because they are not able to contact you

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Had the same today but I don't have any broadband. Went down last Thursday was told that next appointment was today 1-6 waited in for engineer but no one bother to turn up. Called sky at 4 pm who assured me they were still coming 6pm arrived and nothing called sky again who tell me theyve raised an issue with open reach and should hear in next 24 hrs. Elderly neighbour relays on BB as her panic/ care alarm is connected to it. So now 5 days gone and nothing. Sky and open reach absolutely useless and good fo nothing. If they don't turn up tomorrow I'm going to rip the router out and get another supplier I've had enough of useless sky and there pathetic excuses

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Sky CS are incompetent, engineer not turned up and they blame open reach. After 6 or 7 calls (they kept cutting the call off) got through to someone who said they need to cancel the job that they never turned up for first before they can book another appointment and that takes 48 hours to do??! Then a new appointment has to be made which god knows how long will be. They say because a care line relys in the phone line they can escalate but probably won't be done before Xmas. The lady concerned is now in hospital after having a fall and not being able to push alarm, anything happens and sky are going to find themselves in a whole heap of problems.

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Andy+Herbert while Sky are by no means perfect but most of the issues you report are down to the way ISPs and Openreach are required to communicate. Ofcom require all communications between Openreach who are the monopoly network supplier owned by BT to go through a single system so no isp have an advantage which is great in theory but frequently causes these issues in practice.

Openreach assign a number of jobs to each engineer whether they are their direct employees or sub-contractors for each am or pm period but where a job over runs the later jobs get dropped. This means Openreach have to pay compensation to Sky who pass it on to you see Customer Auto-Compensation | Sky Help | Sky.com but the job goes back in the system to have a new appointment and is not prioritised. I wont bore you with details of my own installation saga but this happened to me twice with third time lucky.

Last summer I was in a group of Forum Superusers invited to Sky's largest Customer Support operation in Livingston and we met the agents and their managers doing this work.  They are only too aware of the lousy service their customers often get. We were told Sky are training their own engineers to do the final install even doing the overhead work from the pole. This will give Sky far greater control over the whole process but as yet many jobs are still with Openreach.

Re: Openreach engineer didn't turn up!

I've 2 missed appointments spanning over a month, **bleep** poor communication, with time taken off work. but I'll get £6 per day compensation since first failed install date, with £20+ compensation for missed install day appointments. doesn't cover time of work or the annoyance and disregard for my time!
