No Broadband
Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help. Have returned from being away for a week to find that I have no broadband. I have spoken to Sky and they have said there is broadband to the house but an issue between the socket and my hub. They have arranged a BT engineer to attend but the earliest they can do is next Friday. I work from home so just wondering if this is something I could attempt to fix myself before then. have tried replacing the ADSL cable but it still doesn't work.
The socket is an Openreach Master Socket 5C.
Lights on the hub are:
Power - Green
Internet - intermittent flashing orange
WiFi - green
Voice - solid orange (but I don't have a home phone)
Would be very grateful if someone can tell me if this is fixable or whether I just need to suck it up and wait for the engineer.
Many thanks!

Re: No Broadband
An Openreach engineer will almost certainly replace that MK4 faceplate: these are available for private purchase at about £10 if you wanted to try yourself before then, although you won't get a refund for that from either Openreach or Sky.

Re: No Broadband
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Can see they're about a tenner on Amazon - are they pretty easy to install for someone with no knowledge of telecoms?

Re: No Broadband
If you look at your existing faceplate, I believe it should have catches on the side which permit it to detach from the 5C backplate that has the actual wiring (which you don't want to disrupt and strictly speaking aren't allowed to touch)
