New to sky help
hi all I know this is probably been asked but I really can't be bothered searching through all the different nuances of the community. I've recently moved to sky from virgin media. I have a 2.5 GB Wi-Fi max package. My installation only happened a couple of days ago approximately five days ago. When I'm stood next to the hub I get approximately 400 MB downloads and about 400 upload the hub being installed in the garage. if I move out of the garage signal jobs completely it's gone, if I go upstairs I get nothing! please help. When I was with virgin. I had three Wi-Fi pods. How do I go about getting some from sky and how do I increase my speed?
Thanks for any help
yes I have restarted several times.

Re: New to sky help
@BernieTheGreat What is the speed to the hub? That is the speed Sky Measure, not beyond, you will never get anywhere near your line speed over wifi, in fact a lot of wifi devices only have a max speed of 330 mbps approx so that fact you're getting 400mbps would suggest your doing very well over wifi
As for haing a hub in the garage that is the worse possible place to put it as it's not inside the home and so it's not surprising the speed drops off when you go into the main home.
The Hub needs to be in a central location the higher the better, having it in the garage likely with brick walls attenuating the signal isn't going to work well.

Re: New to sky help
@BernieTheGreat your 2.5Gb/s Gigafast+ payment includes Sky WiFi Max which can get you up to 3 WiFi extenders. The first can simple be asked for over the phone the other 2 require an engineer to agree. Agree putting a WiFi hub in a garage is very strange. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max

Re: New to sky help
With VM I had gigabit broadband. I would regularly see speeds in excess of that, with the pods I was getting over 700mbs in the furthest part of the back garden.

Re: New to sky help
Unfortunately ISP routers vary greatly in their performance, and repeated posts to this forum over the past few years suggest the Max Hub underperforms in some properties.
